Did you not notice Van Berlo?
Van Berlo would not let the likes of mere mortals like me view his god like body
Or then again I felt he spent too much time on the bench and his 10 possessions were minimal

Sorry but I completely disagree. He was very, very good today. His skills and delivery was great, his tackling was superb and his work in close was brilliant, especially for a 19 year old. And he had 15 possessions.

For once i have to agree with you Drummond. Excellent game from VB today, his best for the club so far.
POTY:
5) Mcleod
4) Stiffy
3) Goodwin
2) Scotty T
1) Burton (if for nothing else but that mark)
Special mention to Young Doughty, quite possibly his best ever game.
The Hound Dog, cleaned a lot up and had a heap of the pill.
S. Stevens, not too good as a defender and is pretty lousy man on man but left in space didn't do too much wrong though.
Brent Reilly, second week in a row he's led the tackle count, good stuff.
BTM:
3) Reilly
2) Bassett
1) VB
Youngster
Was very impressed by both today, if Knights had slotted that goal would probably have given him the 2, but...
2) VB
1) Knighter
Loving VB's intensity.

A reasonable win today but those 2nd quarter fadeouts are a major worry. We will get slaughtered by a good side if we continue to do that.
POTY
5. McLeod - had to get the 5 today. Back to his very best today and did it all, winning the man on man stuff, playing the linkman, mopping up in defence, etc etc. The after-burners were well and truly on full show today.
4. Johncock - Macca's chief partner in crime in defence today. Impassable, and can't remember any errors from Stiffy at all. His use of the ball was nothing short of first class
3. Goodwin - By far the best of or mid-fielders this year and showed why again today. Must be racking up a few Brownlow votes.
2. Doughty - the young one has finally come of age in the last couple of years, playing some very good football on and around the ball. Confidence leads to courage and Doughty has both at the moment.
1. van Berlo - first class effort in his tagging role on a superstar in Koutafides, reducing him to sounding more like a fish and chip operator by the end of the game.
Best Team Man
3. Reilly - his workrate this year is second to nobody's and he has developed into a good hardworking on-baller who uses the ball well on most occasions. His tackling has become a real feature of his game.
2. Johncock - see above
1. van Berlo - see above
Rookie
2. van Berlo - loved his game today. Tremendous work rate and courage for one so young. He's a beauty!!
1. Knights - did well when given his chances to day. Apart from a couple of very dumb options, in general used the ball far better than he has been doing. Knows how to find the ball.

5 - Andrew McLeod - another Norm Smith maybe? ;)
4 - Simon Goodwin - great bounce back after a lean few weeks
3 - Young Michael Doughty - not bad for such a young'n
2 - Graham Johncock - Johncock and McLeod are the best duo since Turner and Hooch
1 - Nathan Bassett - career high 29 touches but his defensive work was what grabbed me today
BTM
3 - Andrew McLeod
2 - Brent Reilly - couldn't be happier seeing this aggressive side of him
1 - Nathan Bassett
Rookie
2 - VB - because if I don't he will smite me. Loved his attack on the contest today.
1 - Chris Knights - when the game was won he got a bit of time on the ball and did well. Good last quarter. :)

Player of the year
5. Andrew McLeod - WOW!!!!!! He was deadset back to his 2000 form. He was just brilliant. I had that feeling that he was just toying with Carlton all day. That run from HB along the members side wing, bouncing the ball while being chased by Kade Simpson was just macca of old. Absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!!!
4. Graham Johncock - It was a case of "anything you can do, I can do better" between Stiffy and McLeod. He was just great. He created, he got the contested footy, he put his body on the line when needed to. Makes a deadly combo with McLeod.
3. Simon Goodwin - After a couple of games below his standards, he was back with vengence yesterday. He won plenty of the footy, used it well, took a hanger and just led the team well all day.
2. Nathan Bassett - He was back to his best yesterday. He did all the things you expect from him and just created a lot of run as well. 29 touches would have to be a career high.
1. Michael Doughty - What a month of footy this boy has played. He has come a LONG way since that round 22, 2004 match against Port where his soft attempts left me sick in the stomach. He is a totally different player now. His attack on the ball has been nothing short of superb this year. I could have killed Hayden Kennedy yesterday when he pinged Dogga for holding the ball when he was the ONLY one to attack the ball with that much urgency. He has been simply brilliant in the last month.
Honourable Mentions: Trent Hentschel, Scott Thompson (His second half was exceptional), Ben Rutten and Nathan Van Berlo
Best Team Man
3. Michael Doughty - See above :thumbsu:
2. Nathan Van Berlo - Kouta who? ;)
1. Scott Thompson - Stinker fo a 2nd quarter but a pearler in the 3rd. His clearence work was VERY important to the result.
Rookie
2. Nathan Van Berlo - I can't believe this kid is only 19. Bucketloads of courage and willingness to learn. He is a player
1. Chris Knights - For the first time this year he looked like he belonged. Handled the pace of the game really well IMHO. He backed himself to kick more and other than a couple of wayward kicks, I thought this was his most promising game this year. Will be a player :thumbsu:

My chips and coke were at risk of enetering the playiong arena with that incident. Shocking decision. Doughty was the only one that wanted the ball. His attack at the contest is now first rate.

POTY:
5) Mcleod - :D:D:D:D me dead! What a game from Macca! Pulled out the time capsule and simply dominated, classic Macca of old times, toying with opponents, accelerating away, long fast runs, brilliant footy use. 3 brownlow votes, write it down and bottle it.
4) Johncock - Excellent game from Stiffy, he simply must be on the HBF atm for the All Aus team. Runs all day, he simply doesn't stop. His drive was sensational.
3) Goodwin - Typical Goody game, lots of the pill, used it to the teams advantage.
2) Doughty - he is fast becoming one of our elite. If you hadn't seen him b4, you could be forgiven for thinking he was in our best 4 midfielders/half backs. Another excellent game, his workrate is sensational.
1) Bassett - Friggen awesome game, rebounded all day and night, marked everything and complimented the best back 6 going around.
BTM:
3) Doughty
2) McLeod
1) Rutten

VB - Bloody oath, I knew he would come along quickly but atm he is really going well. This bloke is a graceful player, no nonsense, smart thinker and mature beyond his years. GUN.
