I will say to you that I know Saliba was recruited by the Assistant Coach and Innella followed Saliba who he had got over to Anakie last season. Remember Saliba had played under this coach previously

he is not going there as a coach or assistant i know both these blokes and have played with them they are getting on and want a premiership and see West as the perfect opportunity.True Cam was recruited to West by his old coach from Diggers and both signed on Monday for some good coin.

Both are gun players and will dominate this year.

From reports that I have heard a few of the boys from Nth Sunshine that went to Yarraville last year are going back to Nth Sunshine this year. I think big Frankie Staffieri, Rocky Saggio and Phil a pretty quick bloke not sure how to spell his last name are a few I have heard.

In all seriousness Deer Park are way off the mark As for "ace" as a coach...only time will tell. Granted he was an absolute gun player in he's day but does have a high opinion of himself....also it would be of intrest to see what his motivation to coach is.....

Are you kidding me - any club who could Alan Williams is lucky - Sunshine are very sad to see him go but he want to be a senior coach. So not sure what you mean about what is his motivation - are you coach?? what is yours?? He is an assett to any club -and having only player a lazy 400 WRFL games not much more needs to be said. And I am not sure what "ace" you are talking about but he is the most down to earth bloke and approachable blokes I know - he doesn't need to be friendly with the opposition.

There's been a lot of talk about west Footscray being on some big recruiting drive. However, I've only heard 2 names mentioned here so far. I also get the feeling that people think they are flag favourites. Personally I think they weill be a good side again and should make the top 4 and could go on to win the flag but I don't see them being a standout by any means. At this stage I see Deer Park, Albanvale (depending on recruits from Sunshine) and Sunny Heights being equally as dangerous. Two players are not really going to make a huge difference. What do people think? Have the Roosters picked up anyone else?

Thats probably a fair point.. Their success in the past has come from having 3 good forwards... Lane, Cubella and Mcghie.. I dont like the chances of Lane or Cubella being a force next season. Inella will cover that but thats not really improvement is it!!

have they been successful?????how many flags they won with those players=none...yes they do win alot of games
yer they are good players but the do get scored against pretty highly against the good forwards and the good midfielders that other teams have if their midfielders are struggling they wont score cause it wont get their then they will argue with each other and their game plan goes up the s h i t t e r............

if it ever came to it I don't think any club would volunteer.... we all know when u go up ur in for a couple of tough years (at best), most clubs could handle that if they had a flag hanging over the bar.... but it's a tough ask without the flag!

Does anyone know if the comp could force someone up?

here here
just like altona a couple of years ago they wernt forced to go up and it made them a stronger club
they cant force any 1 up parside is 1 of the most powerful clubs in the comp and i doubt they will turn a powerful club into a junior only club

In relation to Sunshine YCW coming up into senior division - this is correct - we had lost the GF 2 years in a row and when West Newport folded we were pushed to move up instead of them the next year. In hindsight it was a good move but took alot of work - the move only really happened about the January of that next season so we didn't ave a lot of time to prepare, but we plodded along

Heard they are in to it big time, three nights a week... time trials, beep tests, agility tests... dont really think they have a place in local footy, but good luck to them. Have also heard a couple of guys from there team last year arent too keen at this stage and have granted themselves a couple extra weeks break, wonder how that would go down with the new coach!

Yeah thats bridge to bridge - The Afton St footbridge to the bridge next to the Anglers - 4.2 km give or take a couple hundred meters. If you want a really good run, chuck in the hills at Afton st as well, like Plough Wallace said in Year of the Dogs, "nothing like those hills to tighten up those calves boys!"

Whilst on the topic of coaching positions and news at clubs, here is the latest from the Wyndhamvale Falcons Football Club, if anyone is interested which they probably ain't haha.

It is been named the 'YEAR OF THE FIRSTS' at the Falcons in 2007 with a few new things coming into the club. For the first time ever, WFFC now has it's own Under 18A side, with the team jumping ships from the Wyndhamvale Junior Football Club to the Falcons. The club will also see it's first female president ever, in Leanne Wallace, who will run the club and look after the team manager duties for the senior side. Vice President will be Ron Doran who has had valuable experiance as an executive with the WRFL and many WRFL Division One clubs.

The coaching staff in 2007 will see Runner-Up in the '06 Alan Smith Medal Brett Cook continue on as Senior Playing Coach. Former player and club favourite Scott Crawford will take over the reigns as Senior Non-Playing Coach, putting his hand up to experiance a passion to coach. Crawford will also help with the development of the Under 18 side. Bryce Grainger will make up the trio of coaches at the club taking the role of Chairman of Selectors. Bryce will also aid the development of future club guns in the Under 18's. Playing Assistant Coach will continue to be taken by Damien Ramsay . The club will also welcome new recruits from Yarraville Football Club, including the brother of coach Brett Cook, Seddon Football Club and the newly Division One placed Glenorden Football Club plus more.

The reserve team will see no changes to it's coaching line up with Brendan Wallace to continue his record long coaching time at the club. He will be looking for that finals spot that has eluded the Reserves team for the last few years.

The new Under 18 side, that will wear new strips from their junior days, will see long time junior coach, WFFC Chairman of Selectors and former WRFL Interleague Coach Darren Batties take over as first coach of this new side. It is believed the team will play in the A division competition. Steve Tuddenham will play a role as Assistant Coach and help turn these players into professional footballers that will serve the WFFC for years to come.

If anyone is interested in joining the club by any chance, there will be a information session on Friday, December 1st at the clubrooms. Pre-Season starts within the next 2 weeks.

hahaha... smart man Falcon.

I've heard of Whiting... has freak ability but is lazy and undisciplined. Could be good or bad but the falcons need all the help they can get in the forward line.

Yeah absolutly true on Whiting. A big unit of a bloke, who can take a contested grab and kick a bag. If gets serious, as he has in the last few years, become more professional about his footy, then I can see a big improvement up forward for the WFFC. Still have Ange Messina who is a better suited crumming player, as aposed to the full forward role in which he was forced to play in 2006. Hopefully Phil Crea decides to call it quits or goes down to reserves. The Falcons still have a bit of talent forward wise in the Under 18's who are ready to come up, with big bloke and Full Forward John Drohomirecki sure to play a few games in the firsts in between stints in the 18's.

Sunny heights seem to have some new faces, couple are very good players. Wouldnt be supprised if they were the suprise packet in 07. Preseason has started and today we had 25 blokes on a 31 degree day. Seems like the place is buzzing and the players cant wait for 07

Yeah Manno is going very well. Top Bloke, Super Player. And a wise man if he is trying to swing you to WFFC next season. New club, new coach, new players and have to say, unfortunatly unlike for the Pies, a very healthy short term and long term future for the senior club. If you were to play 18's, you would be with the majority of the 16's boys coming up who finished 3rd in A div. A good side next year? I'm sure of it! Tempting??

Pretty Tempting , Lavo will have a good Under 18 side once again but if not il look for somewhere closer to home.. I live in Hoppers and somewhere local would be good .

Brett Cook's brothers name is Travis Cook is new recruit that WFFC has supposedly picked up, but the word is that he had signed a contract with Yarraville at the end of last year for the year 2007 and with the new ruling about if you are contracted to the club then it is highly unlikely that he will get cleared. Especially since he would be someone Yarraville would want to be the main nucleous of the team.

Falcon

Ah yes, Travis, thats the name. Well your probably correct if he does have a contract. I'm not sure, but if he does, it is most likely Yarraville will give arm and leg to keep him and prevent a clearance. All I do know is the WFFC is pushing very hard to bring over the coach's brother and many within the club believe he is as good as there. Personally, not so deep in it to have an opinion.

Speaking of needing the work time you got yourself to training as you are like the side of a house. Seen it many times fat f...ks like you still in their 20's pursue other interests such as coaching, administration because you are too fat to play.

New players are now totalling around nine and all are senior players. Another 3 or 4 still to come. So in summary Heights will be a lot stronger next year hopefully. There is no real pressure coming from finishing 5th last year.

Round 2 if it's against Deer Park should be a good game but Deer Park are favourites as they are for the flag. Actually all the pressure is on Deer Park.

For a side that was already old and slow I see your signings in Madigan, Clint Mc.....(don't know his surname, and Williams are all the wrong side of 30. So keep up the good work with recruiting and pray your finals are not on a big ground like Altona. All those 3 are good footballers but we all know that the hard running you could do in your 20's is not so easy in your 30's.

no doubt about it im a solid boy i dont know about the side of a house though tony thats a bit far fetched..............
i started coaching not cause im fat but to give a bit of my knowledge to the young fellas and to help the club out cause they didnt have a coach for that grade...........i must be doing something right the three years that ive coached 1 underfeated flag and 2 pre lim finals in a row thats a fair record for any coach...........i want to watch these kids go on and play senior footy for the club and have that winning edge when they get there so the club and myself are happy with the way things are going.........so dont give me that crap about persuing other interests im still playing coaching and running what more can i do.................

one of them is a former barry priest medalist and im sure he will do well in div 2 with his size you dont need to be quick

Never said you were not a good side, you have the score on the board. That is why you are early flag favourites with West next with all the recruiting they are doing. I personally think they still won't have much heart and don't believe Lane and Inella are that hard to stop. Their coach doesn't help either. Yourselves won't have the unknown factor as you had last year. You are now a top team and everyone knows what you are about. That changes the dynamics somewhat.

Your pace last year was an area that you will agree was lacking a little. Granted pace in the midfield is good but pace all over the ground is better. Adding another 3 or 4 30yo plus players will further detract from the hard running that younger players can do. If you have picked up some pace in the midfield then because of your older pick ups it may balance out and you will be similar to last year. Is Balshaw finally going to become a boundary umpire or is he playing again. Are your two ruckmen playing again. Do you think they are much value on the big grounds of finals. Personally I don't, as Skippy can't fill the holes etc that he does during the year and bear looks like an iceberg. I can't remember watching closely but it appeared on the ocassions I saw there was usually one of the big guys on the bench rotating. Is that right or am I mistaken. What is that tiny player you have called. He was very impressive in the grand final.

As for no one getting near you we would have run well over the top of you early on in the year at deer park if the rain didn't come in the last quarter. You were stopped and we were coming home. I know you improved since then but you know what I am sayng is true.

I agree about div 2 will be a closer comp. Two lower teams gone and 7 or 8 good teams. It is the most open it has been since Nth Sunshine won in 2003.

I am sure the three of them will do well in Div 2. I am talking of the hard running that 30 plus yo's can't do. Remember one hasn't played for a couple of years and another for 4 or 5 which won't help especially early in the year. Also many goals are set up by run out of the back line.

As for hopefully that is because injuries occur, people's circumstances change etc. So I will change hopefully to quietly confidant or quietly very confidant. We will be going about our business in a low key manner, no need to boast, predict, big note etc. Our training so far has been sensational with most coming back in better shape 8 or 9 of the seniors have hit the weights so everyone is working very hard to 'hopefully' have a better 2007. The club has recruited very well also.

By the way have you played seniors yourself or is runner the closest you have been.

Also maybe I should have said the back of a bus, side of a house is a little too big. However your mouth is bigger that ten houses put together. Hope to see you running/moving around the groung again.
