You had me until you said PH would be crazy not to take him on board for the rest of the year,
Last time I checked PH were flying 2 games clear on top of the ladder and the magoos were 3 games clear.
Why would you chase some one else when you have blokes that have been at the club all year? Surely if you think you need to alter the side you pick from the talent you have in the two's. You would expect there would be a couple of senior players getting about amongst them.
It speaks volumns about were PH's mind set is at right now. They are wetting their pants that Calivil will wait till the Grand Final and smash them again.
You need to have absolute confidence in each other to win a flag. The fact that PH chased McAdam in the first instance makes them look like bed wetters not premiership favorites.
Talking to people at the Hill, McAdam didn’t play because he didn’t want to take any one's spot. Also there was little 'chasing' to add to their finals team, as he will be a regular player next year, and at only 41 years old he’s still got plenty football in him. So back to B-Boy's comment Pyramid would be crazy not to sign him as soon as they could.
Also just heard one of the James boys fell off his motorbike the other day and did his collar bone - not sure if it was Gavin or Ross? But that would be a 6 to 8 week injury meaning he will miss some of the finals. This adds to their long list of injuries - if Miti don’t beat them this week, u can nearly write them off as contenders.

It was Ross James who broke his collar bone on the weekend..has been playing in the reserves but is expected to miss at least 6 weeks!! Pyramid Hill will almost be back to full strength in coming rounds with alford and cauchi expected to return this weekend against mitiamo.

Seems like there are 16 excuses but you don't see other sides who lose listing their players that were out. Hellboy get over it, bet everyone including me thought you would still beat YC without these blokes. So what are your chances of making finals. HOw long are all of these blokes out for? Did you not risk them because it was YC & thought you would get through anyway, like all of us?

The question was asked, and I confirmed it. Not even close to using outs as an excuse because we still should have won. Finals hopes severely dented now. This win would have put us into 4th on percentage. We will now probably have to beat Serp and Mitiamo to make it. Given the way Marong played last Saturday, this is unlikely. Maybe the kick in the pants that the guys needed though.
Players weren't rested simply because we were playing YCW.

Obviously, due to the lack of interest to my query, no-one is interested in playing senior interleague. Seems a shame that with so much talent out there not being showcased, the league hasn't pushed for it. Must be too scared of getting thrashed, when only the "would be's" standup and offer to play.

now that yc has notched a win how will the eagles go this week against calivil the calivil sides will wear the old northern united maroon and gold jumprs and they could be a bit pumped with all the reunion & nostalgia things going on

Kurt is having a good year again. Not kicking as many goals this year because he is playing more on the ball, which has been very important for Bridgewater this year. In my opinion, he is much more valuable as an on-baller because he is very clean with his delivery and finds plenty of it. And with some big targets up forward such as Poyner and Collins, he can afford to have a run up the ground.

Brad Fawcett like his past 5 years been very consistent playing good footy off a half back providing plenty of run... James is playing good footy but not quite dominating as much as last year prob due to taggers and did hav a injury cloud over him a few weeks back where he missed bridgy game.. i see someone already answered about Ashman and yeh there right on the money..
Things have gone a bit quiet as of late...
Massive game on the weekend between Marong and Mitiamo. It will really shape the final 5.
Any thoughts on who will win and why?

I doubt Miti and Marong will be close at all, miti will be far too stong for marong - a lot riding on it though, miti for need to win to get a double chance, and marong need it to have a chance to make the finals, but serp will get their spot.
It wont matter who makes the last two spots, pyramaid, calivil and miti are the only teams that can possibly win the premiership. I would have added Bridgwater, but what has happened to them? Are they finished? Anyone got some ideas on what has happened to them?

With the name "soup er roo", I'm not surprised that you are talking up the Super Roos. You are right though, as they should account for Marong, but they can't afford to lose this one with a tough run home.

What do you make of how the season is shaping up do Pyramid look the side or are Calivil reeling them again?
I notice it's also pretty tight between 3rd and 6th too seen a big report on the Serp vs Pyramid game tomorrow on www.centralvicfooty.com.au (http://www.centralvicfooty.com.au) Looks like the game with Marong the week after could have a big say for the Panthers and Serp as to who gets 5th spot.

Calivil are starting to fire at the right time of the year (again!) and would have to be favorites. Once they get their running game going they are very hard to stop.
The finals should provide some very interesting games though.

If games go as expected over the next 3 weeks, the winner of Marong/ Serp next week will certainly finish 5th. Marong have Miti and Pyramid, and Serp have Pyramid and Calivil. All things being equal, Marong have a slightly better run home with Miti a step down from Calivil. If Marong was to win this weekend against Miti (and beat Serp), given the small gap in percentage between the 2 sides, Marong would could quite conceivably finish 3rd.
There may be some bias from me, but there is no doubt that this would be an extraordinary effort.

3rd spot will all come down to the last round now Miti V Bridgey.
can Calivil be stopped? They've almost been put down as no chance the last 2 or 3 years, because there success is due to come to an end, but it dosent. THere is a lot of pride and passion out there, that's the difference between them and the rest. MOst of them are original Calivil people, and if they arent originals, they are just as loyal.
Most teams have good payed players out there, but Calivil have good players with passion, the reason for there massive succes for the last 7 years or what ever it is!
I dont come from Calivil Footy Club either, used to hate the fu*&kers playin for Serp, but atleast they're a proper club.

Yer interesting they seem to have it over opposition sides more mentally that through talent although it needs to remembered the Pyramid have handled them twice this year though. Miti play them this weeks what everyone's predictions? I see Guy Orton on the centralvicfooty site thinks they will go much better this time around.

Well done to Marong, who seem to have made the finals, fair effort to come from the bottom last year to making the finals. Looks like it was a good game this week, looking at the scores.
Watched Miti and Calivil, Calivil were in second gear all day, scores were pretty close, but Miti never looked like winning.
As predited a few weeks ago, Miti and Bridgie will play off to get third, should be a good game, as a Miti supporter, i honestly cant pick a winner, what are everyone else's preditions?

Miti looked way to slow, apart from Morrissey no real ball carriers. The backline with Boldiston, Mclean and I see Saunders down there as well on Saturday is slow and predictable. You are correct in saying Calivil never looked like they were out of 2nd gear. I would think Bridgey will be to slick for Miti this week.

Alright, this thread has gone quiet... Lets start to rate the year coming into finals.
My Best/Worst List...
Best acheived team - On last years results you would have to say Marong. Good recruiting, great off-field team, kudos goes to the hard workers out there, even the ground is looking ok! Honerable mention to Pyramid though...
Worst Acheived team - Easy - Newbridge, losing 4-5 guys out of your side CANNOT have this big of an impact - from unbeatable team mid last year, then to come runners up to a great team - to finishing with no more than 5 wins the following season is unacceptable. HEADS MUST & will Roll (watch that space...!)
Most Underacheived team - Go with Miti, although season not over & will play finals - look to have to play in elimin. final - they recruited heavily and expensively & would have expected top 2 finish - haven't really gotten the chocolates for their efforts.
Team to fall off the face of the earth in next 2-3 years - Race between YCW and Newbridge - Talk around town is N/B coach will get the sack (last coach got fired for losing a grannie) Comer & Mildren already told club they are leaving. With Shevlin to go through another summer, expect him to be 20kgs heavier and no jumper big enough for him next season & with Baxter & others on the verge of retirement - club could be in for a few long years... Plus all not well off-field either! YCW, have HOPEFULLY banked money this year, so will have to throw it in truck loads for players next season (which they tried to this season unsuccessfully) and if it doesn't work in 2009, the church may just ask the young christian workers to either start paying top dollar for the use of the ground or pack their bags and p*ss off for good....
2008 Grand Finalists - Calival, to win it in a canter against Pyramid.
Upset of the finals, Marong to beat Bridgy in the second week, bridgy out in straight sets.
Headline of the OFF-SEASON; Inglewood recruit Alan Didak for 6 games in 09.

Haha at the last part. I don't think that will happen, as i think Didak will go back to South Australia and play for Port or the Crows..
Marong have certainly suprised a lot of people this year. Only winning a handful of games last season, to making the finals this season is a big step for the club. I play for the U 17's, and there is a sense that the club is changing. So many more people are involved in the club compared to last year, and the young players coming through the ranks are pretty handy players.
Lachlan Frankel has played most of the season in the Seniors, and has done his job in there. It is good for him to get a stint with the Seniors, and next year he will hopefully play the whole season as a medium half forward.
Luke Savy is defiently a player who could of played Seniors aswell. Had a couple of weeks off because of a knee injury during the middle stages of the year, but has ripped up every game since coming back from injury. Coming from Golden Square last year, he was defiently a good find for us, and he filled the gap that Lachy left.

So where are comer and mildren meant to be of to next year then? i have heard a rumour that strathfieldsaye are really after comer! and i know that kangaroo flat were chasing sam mildren last year so may be he will be goin back there? Shevlin would nearly have to retire after this year he has been absolutely useless just a total waste of space!

i think dave coghlan will win the league medal
Should be a few good games this weekend
my tips are

Calivil over serp
inglewood just over newbridge

I think you are forgetting this is LVFL and not AFL, things can turn around quickly as we have seen. Don't forget that Newbridge went from being no where near finals in 2005 to nearly a grand final in 2006.
A little bit of recruiting and we'll see what happens.

With a lot on the line for both Miti and Bridgie, the game was very physical - a few little fights and cheap shots by both teams. Miti used their home ground advantage very well, kicking 15 goals to 3 after quarter time. Marong were winning after 3/4 time - can anyone who watched the game help explain this?

clutton is a very good player, consistent as well. paul thomson and lee franklin from marong would be good harding medal hopes, dave morrisey from miti, hutton from serp, pyramid and calivil would both probly have alot of players taken votes off each other. a rough hope would also have 2 be o'connor from inglewood a classy midfielder who performed well alot this year and baxter from newbridge would also have 2 be thereabouts. did i 4get anyone?

Does the name Tim Wicks ring a bell? He's looser than a wizards sleeve and he has won a league b & f.
Clutts reads the ball so well he doesn't need to man up.
He is never a loose man in defence...always has an opponent.
He has played as well as Lakey did last year for N'Bridge.

Yeah, ill second that! Im not a teammate of Clutts, but in both games against him this year he has clearly been Bridgey's best.....is very strong in the air, and took some great contested grabs!
And as an ex-soccer superstar who didnt play footy until 18-19....he makes alot of blokes who have been playing all there lives look very ordinary if you ask me!

had a good year last year, and been good again, but bridgy need him to perform in the big games, that is finals, had poor game in there first final last year, so hope he can perform for bridgy on sunday, all the best to all teams in finals.:thumbsu:
So what does everyone think about the results from the weekend.
A couple of good games:
Calivil found that extra gear when required in the last quarter to win comfortably. Morrisey seemed to be limping towards the end of the game and Boldiston looked to hurt his knee which required the stretcher. Any word on these two?
On Sunday, it was a very even contest in the first half. Bridgewater lifted in the 3rd with the forward line clicking to kick 6 goals. Up by 5 goals deep into the last quarter when marong kicked a couple of quick ones.
So this week:
PH v Calivil - Is Pyramid good enough to stop this Calivil juggernaut?
Miti v Bridgey - Can Bridgey make up for the dissappointing 2nd half fade out on Miti's home turf?

Morrissey should be ok, but it looks like Garth's (Goose) season will be over, it was was a disgrace hearing Calivil supporters cheering and carrying on when he went down with such a serious injury, just shows how arrogant they have become after five years on top.
The games have been swapped for this week, at Miti Saturday and Serp on Sunday.
I think the Hill will beat Calivil, as they match up better, but will be a very even game. And Miti should beat Bridgie, but with Miti’s inconsistency it could go either way.
Should be two cracking games and very close.
Any other predictions for these games and why?
Lets get the forum cranking...it is the finals after all!

In sunday's game Mitty Vs Bridgey, i'll tip Bridgey.. Have the fire power up forward to get the job done.. Hopefully big baby shrek recovers from injury to get a run in the twos... Was inspirational as the runner in the twos on the weekend helping them get over the line...
Would this be right again??

Cannot see anyone beating them.

Would of thought winning 5 grand finals in a row plus winning the last 8 games in a row including a comfortable qualifying final win would mean a side would go in with a fair degree of confidence for any game it played.
Arrogance isn't a word i would associate with the demons, i think your confusing them with Newbridge.
Pyramid have been in this position before and choked it up, i would think the pressure would be on them not Calivil this week.

Your getting confidence and arrogance confused. As for chokers, i do remember the mid 90s Calivil going into grand finals against YC with some arrogance, sorry "CONFIDENCE" and getting thier pants pulled down.I bet you know how many chickens there are at Calivil dont you?

Newbridge made a massive mistake with their coaching appointment and things are not well at all off the field so expect a lot of changes for season 2009. A lot of people making decisions for the wrong reasons and not for the benefit of the club.
There were more than 4-5 players different from the team and also going from 60 players at training to 25-30 is an obvious sign of a decline in depth.
Lakey is one of the best country players around and is very hard to replace.
A Grant, Hughes, McEwan, C Giri, M Giri, P Holliday, D Gordon and B Cummins from the Grand Final side didnt play this season. So numerous changes.

Lakey is a very good footballer but you haven't watched alot of Country Footy if you rate him as one of the best. He would have been in the Top Three in the League no doubt but LVFL would be a bit behind other leagues in terms of standard at the moment.

I think Calivil are entitled to be arrogant or confident or whatever they like! Until someone gets up to beat them they can do what they want. Good luck to the Hill this year as it seems its your turn again to have a crack at the title!

Miti will have a huge task this week, with outs this weeks game against Bridgy: Boldiston, Hayes, and others who probably wont play: Morrissey, Wicks and Wood - all in our best 10 players. It will will make the twos game interesting, will be a good test of depth.

Morrissey and Wicks must be pretty badly injured if they can't get up for a semi final. I did notice Morrissey limping towards the end of the game but thought he would be a certain starter.
Can you fill us in on what these injuries may be? Or are you keeping these close to your chest?

Yeah they are still a chance of playing, will find out at training tonight though. Wicks did his ankle in the last 1/4, but came back on at the end of the game, but he has had a lot of trouble in the past with it. Cam Wood also did an ankle, and Hayes did his shoulder. Morrissey is always limping after a game - has been playing injured most of the year. With the importance of the game i would tip all except Hayes and Goose will play this week, injuries included.

No chance, he missed the first 5 games from suspension, and has had an average year, billy grant has put him in some odd possies this year.

Look out for Marong's late season superstar recruit Mark Gretgrix to make a late run at the reserves B&F!

Interesting notes from today's reserves game.
Game Report:
Game stopped at 15min mark of 2nd quarter at request of B/water captain by Umpire to have a count of players. Subsequent count found that Mitiamo had 19 players present. Mitiamo score was removed (2/3/15), Bridgewater given a free kick and 50 metres and game resumed.

Fair effort from the mean machine yesterday in the senior game. Little bit of luck helped them in the reserves, but you'll take it.
Bridgey are showing that they are the side you don't want to face in this finals series and that goes for Pyramid Hill this week. Massive test for them on the wide open YCW ground. Could Bridgey be the fairytale?

I was unable to go the game, but from what i heard, it was after the 1/4 time break, only three players bent back onto the bench, Miti runner noticed after a while but it was too late, as the Bridgie runner was already out to their captain.
Fair enough, Miti were in the wrong, but what a way to go out of the finals, lot of shattered blokes around the club at the moment.
As to who is to blame? The coach took full responsibility after the game, and was inconsolable after the game.

I am not certain that Bridgey can be the fairytale but Pyramid could be the nightmare!! They have been a great side all year but given their recent record in finals there is cause for Bulldogs fans to be nervous. If they can get their good players playing well they will thrive on the wide open spaces at YCW and put Bridgey out of their misery. If not there could be some serious questions being asked at the Bulldogs.

Speaking of questions being asked I think a few should be put towards Mitiamo. Along with Newbridge probably the most disappointing club this year. Pre-season hype had them flag favorites only to be bundled out in straight sets after an inconsistant season.
Billy has done a lot of recruiting over the last 2 seasons, spending a reasonable amount of coin but failed to produce the results. Surely the committee wouldnt be overly pleased considering the investment they have put in over the last 2 years? Will Billy be coaching again next season? And if so will he have the same sort of budget to play with? Some interesting times ahead as I believe they could be facing a year or 2 like YC and Newbridge.

It was an even better win considering the conditions. Bridgey prefers to play in perfect conditions because it has some big marking targets down forward and clutton and wood who take dozens of grabs in the backline. The weather at Serp took these players out of the game to a large extent.
Could go either way this week. Bridgewater will have a full list to pick from with Symo coming back into the team.

Big call from the coaching panel if they put Symons straight back in the ones. He seems to love belting blokes (or is constantly unlucky if your from Bridgey i suppose) and the last thing they can afford is to play with 17 men for 15 minutes.
They are going to need a bit of luck this week to get past Pyramid, but realistically like last week Pyramid are playing with all the pressure.

Agree with your comment to some extent but the recruits this year haven't given him much either which was out of his control to some extent
Eve 3 games, injuries
Adam Campbell disappeared after 5 games.
L Mclean ditto.
Pascoe and Orton probably slightly disappointing but injured for 4 to 5 games each.
Mitchell not too bad.
J Mclean bad pick-up.
Saunders serviceable but in his late 30s couldn't expect much more.
Tom Grant OK
Couple of kids out of the 3rds helped out when required.
I reckon from the 9 or 10 games I watched this year that Mitis top 5 in the B&F will be players that have been there for longer than just this year.
Scott Lawry
Morrissey
Haythorpe
Hayes
Ross Smith
In a nutshell though a fairly disappointing outcome for 08.

Is this correct? Only advertised last weekend. Couldnt have searched for long if that is the case...
Who is this guy and what are his credentials?
Will Lakey be back? Have heard Comer and Mildren are going.
Calivil will enjoy the Newbridge ground a lot more than Pyramid. Pyramid seem to have a lot of good running and slightly built players that need the wide open space. Calivil will keep it in close and tough and Pyramid will not be able to cope with that style of play.

Congrats to Lee "Franky" Franklin of Marong, a very deserving winner of the Harding Medal, polling 20 votes at the LVFL vote count at the Serpentine Hall last night.
One of the gutsiest blokes in the league, great clubman and a fantastic reward for perserverance after having a shocking couple of years with a serious wrist injury.
Aaron Demeo from Calivil on 18 votes had a fantastic finish to the year as Runner Up, has the chance this weekend to win the medal all footballers are chasing...of the premiership variety!

After watcjhing Saturdays game I doubt i can see the demons run being broken.
If the Pyrmaid big guns especially in the forward line can fire I think they might be a chance. Chilcott was pretty quiet and if he and company can fire I see this as the only way they will topple Calivil.
Bridgey were good and could have been a lot closer had they kicked straight.
Who is everyone tipping??

I agree, Bridgey missed some really easy goals from almost point blank range which can cost when it comes down to a 19 point margin at the end of the day.
It was a really bruising last quarter when Bridgey came hard at Pyramid. I can't see Pyramid beating Calivil next weekend.
Calivil by 30 points.
