Recently, every time a new Aussie flick has garnerned great reviews, I go to the movies with anticipation.

Two hours later, I leave with Chuck D ringing in my ears...

"Don't believe the hype!"

Another flat, ho-hum effort from local filmmakers.

Never knew smack was so romantic?

Maybe we should all shoot up and fall in love...

Think Abbie Cornish is a great, young actress.

But her performance left me a little cold in this.

Didn't really care what happened to the two leads.

Oh, the critics said she was good in it..
I'll still check it out as I am quite looking foward to seeing it. Even if I will be disappointed.

While it wasnt the best Aussie movie i've ever seen, i didnt think it was that bad Magpiespower.

It was really hard to watch in moments and there were a coupe of moments that genuinly moved me.

And i didnt think they romanticised or glamourised the drug at all. Quite the opposite. The destructive way things ended up was far from romantic i would have thought??

And i thought Abbie Cornish played her role superbly. In fact i think everyone did.

Wasn't bad but it wasn't exactly great either.

Be interesting to see how it goes at the box office.

Reckon it might struggle.

Absolutely. Its barely showing at any of the mainstream cinemas in Melbourne. And when i saw it during the week, i noticed a couple of young, trendy type couples walk out pretty early in the piece looking quite disturbed. Not sure it has much widespread appeal.

Cheap and NASTY candy to be exact! :D

Anyway i saw the film in Geelong, before the game (highlight of my day unfortunately), and was glad i saw that instead of the other crap that is on ATM. Was surprisingly, quite amusing in some parts. But of course, some scenes brought tears to my eyes :o And all the characters, imo, were well cast, and well acted.

Hope you enjoy it :thumbsu:

Managed to catch this film while in Denmark and was really suprised. I have never really liked much of the films that have come out of Australia since The Castle (sorry Kenny just didnt hit the stop for me) but this was different. Abbie was really good in her role, hope to see her in more films. The ending was realy good. That about sums up my thoughts on it.

That's how it happens a lot of the time. Most (or the largest percentage) girls get addicted through boyfriends. Smack has many sides (Trainspotting, Christiane F, Requiem for a dream) and it's good to see some film makers nail reality. It gives us a realistic insight to what it's all about.

This movie was neither here or there for me though.

Sorry to bump an old thread but if anyone has seen this it would make me feel at ease if they could tell me if in fact

SPOILER SPOILERSPOILERSPOILER

The last scene is the one where Candy leaves the Dan at the restaruant. It's just that i downloaded it (bit of Heath Ledger nostaliga) and been looking at the IMDB page of it and it says 108 mins and mine goes for around 98 minutes without the credits.
