For the last 3 World Cups I have run two fantasy cricket competitions for my work colleagues, generally about 20-40 entrants in total.

I put about 6 months of work into it, with researching every player selected in each squad and statistically analysing their performance so that they can be ranked/groups accordingly.

The first competition is what I call the "Simple" competition, whereby all players are grouped with similar players and a player is selected from each group with a wildcard(s) selection from any group. There is the ability to change players in your squad at certain points.

Points are scored on wickets, runs, catches, stumpings, run outs.

The second competition is what I call the "Complex" competition, whereby all players are given a value and the competition runs via a salary cap with again some opportunity to change your squad.

Points are scored as per the Simple competition, but also points are added for battling quickly/bowling economically, and deducted if you bat like a plodder or bowl like Mick Lewis.

Cost of entry is usually $5 or $10 and all funds raised are distributed in prizes, with first getting the lions share and any balance to various placegetters depending on how many people enter.

I'm battling with the idea of opening this up to the general public, but with recently changing jobs (and thus reducing considerably the number of people that I work with), I am again tempted. I know there will be more work involved (getting $$ from people I dont see every day) and increased entries, but I think I am up for it.

Is there any interest in this forum to be part of this?

if others are up for it then all good.

lets not make it too complex though , hey.
