Hi all,
It has been a while since I have posted on the site, but I thought I would note that as of today our official membership numbers after our win on the weekend is 25,410. A good result, in fact a great one and just a sniff away from 26,000.
We have eactly 25 days left before the official figures tally closes and as you know I am, as I'm sure we all are, committed to getting 26,000 members in 2006.
That means we need to sell 25 memberships per day to reach the target.
I know I am talking to the converted and as a result you are our very best recruiters. If there is anythiny any of us can do to get us over the 26,000 number now is the time to do so.
Lets all rally in the last part of the membership season to get to 26,000.
Regards,
Cam
P.S - A good win on the weekend.
Thanks for the update.
You need to update the Bulldogs website though, so that everyone that logs onto it will see that we are nearly there.
Cam,
Perhaps you could go through all the available but inexpensive Dogs mechandise - not just caps and scarves - but some other things, and put in an ad in the two local rags that anyone who takes up a membership before the cut-off gets this "special" package.
Or
Put in an ad in the two local rags for a competition, open to anyone who takes up a membership before the cut-off, to win a signed Dogs jumper.
Either way, it targets the locals and may help get a few hundred over the line, at little cost to the club. I think you need to give some extra incentive to get these stragglers over the line.
Just some thoughts.
Cheers
PS An even better comp - prize: dinner for two with Johnno and Rocket at the club. Wouldn't be the most exciting night for those two, but would give a real incentive to join at little cost to the club.

It would be if Paris Hilton won it.

I would not mind knowing some stats.
How many of this years intake are completely new to the system?
ie how many are first time members?
How many old members from the past three years are not signed up?
Assume some are no longer alive!
Some might have moved OS!
How many are old members coming back into the system
How many of the new ones are on direct debit?
How many altogether on direct debit?
Cheers.
Whenever you can Cam.....or someone else from the membership department.

Thanks for keeping us up to date Cam, much appreciated. It would be great if we can reach that 26,000 target before the end of the month. We have a jumper that we are selling...when sold all of the funds will go towards further Bulldog Backyard Memberships.

I have previously wondered whether this is a result of people who dont follow us occasionally buying memberships.
In a way whilst this helps us for the year they do join, we then probably spend recruting effort trying to get them to re-join instead of actually growing out membership base.
I know it was our home game saturday but it seemed to me there were 20,000dogs and 10,000 which I felt was encouraging. Lets make it a Queens Birthday massacre at the Dome on Sunday abd bury those Dockers!

I wonder if in order to get over the line in the next 3 weeks the club should consider utilising the players for a day in some kind of way.
Perhaps coordinating with local Footscray and Greater Western Suburbs businesses, community groups, councils, & local media during the weekend we have the bye, they could generate the required 500 or so memberships, as well as foster further ties to the Western Region and the people.
Perhaps on the saturday morning of the bye , various players , club officials, go to certain well known business locations, community local sport events and sign autographs chat about the Bulldog vision of the future, and have a membership presence there as well.
I'm sure local community groups would love the chance to put on a sausage sizzle. Involve local press and radio. They may even be able to include sausage sizzles and prizes if you buy media space or time with them for the event.
If it were done twere well it were done quickly
Things would need to be coordinated pretty fast to put it on, but having coordinated these things previously in retail, I know it can be done, and you would be surprised how well they can work.

Yeah, but a fair few people sign up to the dogs as a second membership. Whether this is someone buying a second membership or someone who supports another club and just wants to support Victorian football. You can't always bank on them renewing.

Everyone on here should go and buy a second (or 3rd/4th etc) membership this week.
It may not increase our supporter base, but it would look good when the final membership tally is released. And it helps with finals ticket allocations!!!

I disagree. While it's a great intention, as far as I'm concerned it's no good just taking additional memberships only to have them wasted.
It is however, far better to participate in something like the Bulldogs Backyard Programme that we did earlier this year. It provides an opportunity for youngsters to get to the footy and hopefully if we continue our good season then these youngsters will take memberships in the future. To top it off it adds to the clubs membership numbers.
I have been contacted by two other contributors to organise this again for those who missed out so if anyone is interested please send me a private message.
To kick start this I will pledge $150 towards this effort. Depending on how many people are interested we should be able to add a fair bit to the membership numbers.
If you want a bit more information about our player sponsorship and Bulldog Backyard efforts I will bump a thread for you to read.

A great effort nevertheless.

Oh so close - a win this weekend should see us just sneak past our target.
