Just after what people opinion on life membership is.
Are 200 Reserves grade games as important as 200 Senior games and should they be rewarded with a life membership as the Seniors are?
What qualifies you for life membership @ your club?
We have 150 senior games as life membership and i think 10 yrs is the service req. But a good point is raised frog. Why are 1st grade games more important than 2nd grade as far as service to a club go's? I think that service is service and 150, 200 or even 250 games what ever the grade should be reconised.

Agreed
Should be no difference, still 150 or 200 games for the club
Whether its 200 seniors or 200 reserve games it should not matter because they are both teams playing for the one club...

We have just had a kid play his 100th for the under 14's, should the rules be 150-200 Senior/reserve games or 300 club games?

i dont think it matters how many senior games you play compared to a reserve game, at our club it does not matter if you have played 1000 games a life membership is given to people that have really made a difference to the club for the time that they have been there obviosuly if they have been there for some time, example of this is our head water man has never played a game for the club but has poured his heart and soul into what he does for the boys and was rewarded a life membership. its not all about players and how many games you have played.

As valubale and fun junior games are I think it should only be open age games played. A lot of children play where they are closest to. Its when you decide where you want to play and you support that club and give years of service as a player, commitee and so on that you should be recognised as a life member.

I Agree that club people deserve life membership, but not all players that have given 10 odd years service will join a committee, some are just happy to follow their team and watch their kids follow in ther footsteps.
I'm comming up for my 150 Magoo's game and this is my fourth year on the BFC committee, I don't expect to get a life membership from my committee work for some time yet as I agree it should be given to those who have been at it for some time, but If I get to 200 ressy's game I think I've erned it.

For the Goulburn Valley & Kyabram District League's, it's 200 senior GVFL or KDFL games, which is fair enough because 200 games is a great achievement, and should be recognised as such.
At some of the clubs that I was involved with, to qualify for Life Membership at Mernda it was 10 years continuous active service (player &/or committee), plus getting a 2/3rds majority of the committee.
Panton Hill I think has something similar.
Murchison, well you REALLY have to earn life membership, it usually takes a good 20 years committed active service to even be considered for Life Membership (which is the main reason why we have less than 20 Life Members, and half of them have since passed on).
The last person we awarded it to (Graham Orr) has been our Scoreboard Attendant since he was in his mid teens (he's 40 now), and Club & Interleague Timekeeper for at least 15-20 years, he also runs our footy tipping contest plus has been on the committee for a decade, and he has never played for the club (he plays Cricket for Murch).
I think that the way Murchison does it is better, because I think that Life Membership is the highest honour that a club can give and it should be something you have to earn.
