It would have to be a real emergency like the bus crashing with all our players on board for him to get a game

Interesting to hear an exchange between Clinton Grybas and Scott West on WLF last night:

Grybas: "Question off the SMS. Will Tom Davidson get a run soon?"
West: "He's not on our list."

Reading between the lines, I'd say Davidson is not endearing himself to the Bulldogs playing and coaching group.

Or maybe it's a prepared response given to him by Rocket... knowing that it's a pretty hot question that burns more strongly with each guy who goes down.

My tip for x-factor coming into the finals... Davidson to CHF... Griff on the ball!

It was the way Westy said it. Sounded to me like he was very dismissive of the question and was trying to make a point. It was also the speed of his delivery: said it virtually before Grybas even finished the initial question. It was quicker than one of his look-away handballs in traffic :D

Anyway, I hope my intuition is wrong.

Not endearing himself to the players. Hmm. Interesting. I guess a lot of the younger, taller players (who don't make it initally to the 1st team) would struggle a little bit in that regard, but i hope by no means your implying the group don't like him / or that he has been alienating himself. Bcos that would be a sure sign that be won't be playing, and was a wasted pick up.

Who knows what games are being played here? Somebody released a version of last week's team in which he was an emergency. It certainly got us going, if not the opposition. Somebody is employing him in mind games at least, and they would hardly be effective if we could read them easily.

That said, his lack of form in the VFL should give us a fair idea of where he's at right now. But, given his record of breaking down, if he could regain confidence in his body, he might improve quickly. Time will tell.

We have three talls out for the season. If ever there were grounds for a rookie to be added to the list it is that scenario - providing of course that the rookie in question was showing enough to warrant such elevation.

Clearly, Davidson has not - last week he was in the Werribee twos.

I can't recall a promising word said about him by anyone at the Club - he's a goner.

I thought exactly the same. He could have given the usual answer eg He is doing well and might come under consideration soon, but by just saying he is not on the list, sounds like he never will be. Hope I'm wrong.

Was a tid bit in the herald sun today saying that he could be close to promotion, what ever that means.

Scooter Its not wishful thinking but I have heard that he is likely to see some games particularly after the mid-season break.

Rocket said if Harris had got suspended against Collingwood, Davidson would have been elevated. Also said that he will be promoted soon.

after watching him against tassie, i'd say he's not even a remote possibility of playing anytime soon. Was awful up forward and didn't even seem to try (granted it's tricky up there with pods and also minson to compete with), at least he got a few kicks when shifted into defence.

Will be intersting to see how he progresses after the break. Given he dominated in the Werribee 2s at FF, he still may be a chance to get a shot, just to really test his worth.

i reckon podsiadily being at werribee is a hinderance for the development of our talls, every time a player looks for a target it's 9 times from 10 pods is the player they kick it to. Not having a crack at pods but that's how i see it.

that's true, but there's nothig we can do about it. The Bees are there to win, not develop our boys... that's the problem with the set up.

that's true but if your a decent player that shouldn't be a problem.

Davidson just doesn't command the ball to be kicked to him.
His efforts have been very lacklustre, and looks totally out of sorts. I'm not denying his potential but i just don't think he's having a red hot go at it.

I think a spell at chb at werribee might give him some confidence, looked a little more at home there at the end of the tassie game.

Tend to agree. The week prior to him being dropped to the VFL reserves, the issue I had was the amount of ball he was trying to get cheaply. I don't like seeing players of his build trying to command the ball out near the fence. Gotta be more imposing.

that's exactly what he's doing.

and if he misses it, he just jogs around slowly.

Hindsight is great but if we had got PODS instead of Davidson he would be leading the AFL goalkicking by now.

Hindsight would also have said that Pods was too old to rookie draft.
