So how does this work? Does he move to Victoria straight away, or does he live at home and we loook after his footy development?

He'll stay in NSW and (I think) come to Melbourne for school holidays.

When he's old enough to be drafted we have the option to pick him up for free.

185cm & 65kg @ 15.

In 1988 we drafted a 15yo who was a 185cm marking midfielder as well. He grew to 193cm and turned into a decent player.

Thanks Jim.

185 cm and 65 kilos, that's taller and heavier than me and I'm three times his age.

when i was his age, about 6/7 years ago, i was probably the exact same height, and weighted around the same, now im 189cm, and weight about 83...sounds like an interesting pick up...i'll watch this with interest for a few years.

How many of these types are you allowed to hold onto at one time?

But you're a whole lot more experienced

Probably a much better player than him as well. It was only my lack of height and weight that held me back from an AFL career.

Scooter,

The details here are really on a 'case-by-case' basis. The scholarship money can be used for a number of things, including the travel and accomodation that you referred to. It can also be used to move the player to a private school that plays Australian Rules Football, or in fact other aspects of the players general education.

It is actually a great opportunity for the player in all aspects of their life (in theory), not just football.

You have quite a lot of AFL players traits.

Sam Power's right foot
Patrick Bowden's intensity
Tom Williams' tendency to get injured
Peter Street's co-ordination
James Cook's pace

Only joshin', buddy. :D

Sam Power's right foot

:D

I reckon my skills on my right side are clearly superior to Sams. Mind you, you only have to know how to drop the ball somewhere in the vicinity of your right foot to be better than Sam.

You guys are being quite harsh on Sam. I've seen Local play.

Great to see the Dogs get onto this program.

Unfortunately, you've missed out on Jake Carr, who Collingwood picked up. 15 yr old Local lad from Willi. Club & WRFL B&F's a plenty, Vic captain U13, 14, 15. Tears them apart every week. Old man is former Australian, & Oceania supermiddle weight boxing champ Rod Carr. Definately does have a bit of barry hall about him

And most importantly of all

ABSOLUTELY MAD BULLDOG SUPPORTER

If he's from Willi, how did Collingwood pick him up?

This is for NSW players only.

One of the best bits is that we only have to use our last draft selection on him if we want him. There'll be a ruckus over this one day.
