I knew something was up when I arrived at Windy Hill and I saw someone I didn’t know out on the field warming up. It would turn out to be an AFL umpire! Soon a few TV cameras arrived. Yes today we there would be a practice match on….

The players bit by bit came onto the field and for about half an hour did their normal warm up routines. Then they progressed to the practice match. It was Blacks vs Reds. Blacks probably had more of the older players and the Black team won. The practice match went for about 20 to 30 minutes. Skill level was average I would say. A few missed targets, but there were a few good pieces of play. The funniest moment for me however was when one of the players was pinged for holding the ball. Barnes yelled out “You gotta be joking ump!” I agreed with him. Sheeds then yelled out “Barnsey, watch yourself!”

Anyway some notes:
Ryder and Bradley were a no show.
Hird was on the field before and after lightly kicking the ball around. Didn’t participate in the match practice.
Campo: fully participated, should be ready to play.
Jolley: Good chance to be in. The Channel 10 TV camera crew came and perched themselves in front of me. They were trying to work out who Jolley was as they wanted to film him as it had been suggested by Sheeds he may his come in this week. Thankfully I was able to inform them that Jolley was Number 35 so hopefully they show the right person in the news tonight (assuming it goes to air).

After match practice, all the players then spent about 15 minutes kicking at goal practice before the training session was over…

Will add anything extra to this thread if I think of more later!

Yeah it was funny. When I saw that happen I instantly thought thats what the news would show... The two of them had a bit of a laugh about it afterwards so don't worry they are still good mates...

Good chance...They did it on the same side of the ground as the cameras, only about 30 metres away at most...:thumbsu:

Too bad it wasn't Sheedy v O'Donnell today as well. Would be good to get a glimpse of possibly our next coach for next year.
