I suspected that Rhyce was rested due to pain in his knee, rather than illness, and the fact that he isn't back is indicative of that.
So essentially, Thomas and Tarrant have walked back into the side, and Pendlebury is keeping his spot.
From that bench, I'd keep Wakelin, Richards, Davies and Iacobucci. Interesting that Holland has an achilles strain though - Didn't see that one happen, so it could have been in training.
Thomas is a superstar. Should be in the side everyweek.

I didnt see it coming either but I'm not surprised now that I think about it. His kicking was poor last Saturday night, maybe he was struggling during the game because he couldnt kick over a jam tin,

He has been struggling lately, over the course of the last three weeks. I thought it was form at first.
'The Chad' will be rapt! He is gettting cheapies!

I think you're right. Its between Yakka and T Cloke for the last spot, depending on team balance. Davies was good last week in the seconds but Rowe and Yakka were better.

I would think Davies will be seen as the replacement for Holland.
From last weeks reserves game, Julian Rowe would be stiff to miss out with all the injuries we got.
I know you guys hate it when i talk badly of Davies but he will never ammount to anything.
I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong, but i havent seen him do anything at AFL level to warrant another chance.
I would be more willing to give Yakka a go.

Carn Magpies. Need a big win to make sure we stay with the ladder leaders. :thumbsu:
I think Iacobucci will get a gig ahead of T.Cloke since Holland is out.
Davies has plenty from what I've seen at AFL level, especially late last year.

I would expect Davies or Rowe to come in for Holland. Surprised not to see Shaw in will be interesting too see how we covor the loss of Maxwell and Swan.
what happened to harry coming in for caracella on the long term list ?? Need to replace Maxwell with a quick medium/tall

Interesting that Holland has an achilles strain though - Didn't see that one happen, so it could have been in training.
A knock or strain to the achilles can take a while for the impact of the injury to appear. But it lingers. Whereas if you tear or rupture it, you get surgery and that's that.
An achilles strain is a very annoying injury. Trust me, I had to deal with it for 3 months before it finally healed completely.

I hope it's T.Cloke. He was one of Melbourne's best last year.
On another note, it looks like both teams have suffered injuries to defenders and taggers, could make it a very high scoring game. Hope so.

R Shaw?????
Rhyce came back too early. He's not ready.

Errr, yes. That's my point, he wasn't named in the team

The first post was Magpies42's predictions.

I would expect Davies and Iacobucci to be in off that bench, with Wakelin a definite, and either T.Cloke or Richards, depending how they want team balance.

Great to see Rowe back. I'm a huge fan.
Glad Pendlebury has kept his spot. It'll be good to see him and Thomas running around together.

I think Davies, Egan and Iacobucci will be left out.I think so too. The height and the mobility of Travis Cloke could worry Melbourne.

Or something like that anyway. An achilles strain is a very annoying injury. Trust me, I had to deal with it for 3 months before it finally healed completely.I'm sure the Collngwood footy club has the resources for a speedier recovery than that. The more available to help the healing, the quicker it will be, and I'm sure he'll be getting a lot of treatment for it. Also, depending on the injury, it can be 3 weeks-3 months of rest, and I don't know what level Holland's injury is.
Achilles Heel Injury - Amazing New Treatment (http://www.sportsinjurybulletin.com/archive/achilles-heel-injury.html)
I hope it's T.Cloke. He was one of Melbourne's best last year. You're just a prize troll aren't you?
Last season as an 18 year old, T.Cloke showed quite a lot considering that Tarrant was on one leg before finally getting surgery, Didak and had mutiple problems before finally getting time off, and Buckley had missed half the season and took time to recover after ground breaking surgery. Fraser and Rocca missed the entire season.
This season if T.Cloke plays, he will have a fit Tarrant, a fit Didak, a fit Fraser, a fit Rocca, and a fit Buckley next to him in the forward line, and that is nothing like last season. Instead of attracting one of the better defenders as he did last season, he will not this season. I hope that the Melbourne footy club doesn't rate him on Monday either.

Yeah, Travs 10 possies and 1 goal 3 worries most teams.
Anyone know finalised lineup?
vinnie_vegas69
11 Jun 2006, 12:13
It's:
IN: Tarrant, Thomas, T Cloke, Rowe, Iacobucci.
OUT: Caracella, Swan, Maxwell, Holland, Richards.
Good swaps, in essence.
Tarrant for Maxwell
Thomas for Caracella
Cloke for Richards
Rowe for Swan
Iacobucci for Holland
Our set-up should work basically the same.

Inexperinced team there with Thomas Yakka Pendles and T3 on the bench. Thats about 25 games between them.
But its an exciting looking team all the same. Unlucky for Guy, he's a victim of our horses for courses policy, and the fact that we need Trav in the 22.
vinnie_vegas69
11 Jun 2006, 13:02
Well actually, Pendlebury and Thomas are listed as on the ground.
The listed bench is Iacobucci, Rowe, Trav Cloke and Wakelin - Which means a combined 253 games between them ;)

The final teams weren't getting finalised until today - unless im mistaken.
P.S - we dont get the Herald Sun in Perth. Thanks.
I'm not too concerned with the relative inexperience. Most of them are known quantities, perhaps with the exception of Pendles and Yakka.
Hope Rowey hits hit targets, as I still rate him.

So do I. Hope he gets amongst it and can keep his spot because I think the boy has talent.
Not a bad team. We can cover most of the injury losses. Is Maxwell's leg broken or was it just a bruised calf?

assuming that Egan and Davies played today, that leaves C3, yakka, Rowe, Thomas and tarrant as the ins.
Personally, i think C3 might replace one of the talls from last weeks team.
