Hello, Just an example of the hypothetical scenario of WCE not having enough salary cap space to resign Chris Judd.
Medibank Private is a sponsor of WCE, and of Chris Judd.
Medibank Private pay WCE say $100,000 for advertising space/corporate facilities etc. that would normally attract $500,000 or sponsorship.
Medibank Private pay Chris Judd $400,000 for advertisements/promotional appearances etc. that would normally be worth $100,000.
West Coast play Chris Judd a salary of $400,000 for playing football.
Judd ends up with $800,000, and WCE and Medibank Private come out even.
Like I said, just an example using a well known player and sponsor, and I don't think re-signing Judd will be a matter of selling to the highest bidder, just wondering if anyone has any detailed knowledge of the salary cap rules, and how far they extend in terms of transparency of club cash flows.
