Our fab older five...in order from 1 to 5 - when do you think they will all retire?

1. Grant 2007 ( I am hoping, he plays another year )
2. Smith 2007 ( down on form but possibly another year )
3. Darcy 2008 ( If knee is right..another couple of years perhaps at FF )
4. West 2009 ( like an energiser battery keeps on going on )
5. Johnson 2009 ( a few years left in Johnno )

I think Monty (2007) might also get one more year.

He is the interesting one. Could be anywhere between 2006 and 2010. A 3rd knee will see him continue a distinguished media career sooner than expected. If the knee holds up, there's no reason why he couldn't do a Lynch and play KP forward until his mid to late 30's. The 2 years off will have freshened him up no end as he has avoided bash and crash football during that time. I doubt very much that he will ever play more than a bit part in the ruck for us ever again.

Grant, Smith, Monty 2006 (The names of Brad Murphy and one of Morgan or K-Mac may go in with the paperwork too)

Darcy another bad knee early 2007, good knee 2008

West 2008

Johnno 2009

How old is Robbins? How long has he got?

Monty 2006

No way known this is Monty's one and only year.

I refuse to speculate on the chosen one.

Smith i hope gets 300 games. So whatever it takes there as long as he stays in form (finds form?).

Good post, Aqua. I agree, and with Sedat's opinion re Darcy going on until his mid-late thirties.

Im hoping the great one will be persuaded to hang on for another year by the prospect of our side in 07, with Darcy, Smurf and anyone over 6 foot back back

Bubba I think will gret one more year

Johnno and West aren't showing signs of slowing down. They could be around forever, they're both freaks

And I agree that Darcy could have a few years as a full forward, if his knee holds up

5. Johnson 2010/11

If Grant was injury free over his career, he could have gone on until 2008/9.

Smith has lost a bit of spark, but he's still a handy player. If he has a good year next year he could play into 2008.

West could go on forever. If we zoned him into the centre square he'd still get 30 touches each week.

Darcy's retirement I would think would be dependant on how well our tall forwards are developing. If they're well on track to being good goalkicking forwards, then I would think 2008, but if it's all doom and gloom 2009 looks much more likely.

Johnno turns 30 in just over a month, so IMO he's got another 2 or 3 good years left in him before he's moved to a forward flank/pocket.

He's already played 264 games so he's a real chance at breaking the games record (depending when Grant retires)
