We have suffered a few long term injuries pre and during the 2006 season
INS: - Darcy, Minson, Murphy, Williams
OUTS: - ?????????????
Obvious ones would be players like Skipper, boyd, Monty, Smith etc.
What would our team look like fully fit?
This is what I thought..
B: Hargrave, Harris, Morris
HB: McMahon, Williams, Gilbee
C: Griffen, West, Eagleton
HF: Murphy, Darcy, Giansiracusa
FF: Hahn, Grant, Johnson
R: Minson, Cooney, Cross
I/C: Street, Ray, Higgins, Robbins
This looks like a fantastic spine, accompanied by awesome midfielders and flankers. Looks bright.
This is not including talls such as:
Walsh
Wight
Skipper
Morgan
Baird
Davidson
No room in that side for Hahn or Gia?

Not so easy....
How many fringe players might look at this come seasons end and think about jumping ship to get a regular game?

Sorry about Missing out on Gia and Hahn. Bad mistake. Knew i was forgetting.
I fixed it up.
Montgomery and Boyd were dropped. Higgins and Robbins were put onto the bench while i fit Gia onto a HFF and Hahn into a FP
That Fwd Line Looks unbelievable. Johnson and Murphy will get the 3rd and 4th best defenders whilst when robbins comes into the fwd line, will get 5th. Meaning Gia and Hahn are left with the worse defenders. Unbelievable fire power up there

I see you've retired Smith and Monty. Fair enough. And expect Williams in his first season to take on J Brwon, Tredrea and Co
The two bolded ones there don't belong there either - Grant will retire and you're asking a player who's coming back after 2 seasons off, in the twilight of his career and who has never played CHF, to play that position?
In 2007 we will still be missing an A grade CHF, or indeed any CHF.
Again.

I have retired Smith and Monty as they just dont make our best 22.
When Williams is named at CHB it doesnt necessarily mean he will take the best defender, as we often see, Hargrave is named at CHb but doesnt always play on the J brown or Tredrea - Harris usually gets that job.
Nothing will change. Williams can play a Kepler Bradley type role, really developing his defensive game and turning him into a player of the future.
Grant stated earlier this year, a few weeks back that he is hoping to play football nxt year.
If this is the case, Darcy can be named at CHF but does not have to play that CHF role, I imagine it to be like almost like a tarrant-rocca combination. Where it isnt really FF AND CHF but rather just 2 big fwds set up in the fwd 50 that can be very dangerous.

It will be really good to have depth next season and we will have a good list to choose from;)

B: Morris, Harris, McMahon
HB: Hargrave, Williams, Gilbee
C: Eagleton, West, Griffen
HF: Murphy, Skipper, Gia
F: Hahn, Darcy, Johnson
R: Minson, Cooney, Cross
Bch: Higgins, Faulkner, Ray, Street, or Robbins....
Thats assuming Grant retires, Smith retires...Darcy will def. play out of the goal square, he won't be playingCHF thats for sure. Skipper could provide a reasonable option at CHF I feel, as he is reasonably athletic, could run forward, contest, leave the space behind him...
Williams won't be expected to come out and hold Brown to 1 goal in his first season, it will be a learning curve, and I'd suggest that he'd get the second tall, with Harris or possibly Hargrave still taking the main key forward for the opposition (at least until Williams finds his feet).
Faulkner, Ray and Higgins are all exciting off the bench, and Street may be required, although with Skipper, Minson, and possibly Darcy to do some forward line work, Im un-sure exactly about how the balance would be.
Griffen into the midfield and cooney forward with Gia on the wing could also look good. It looks good on paper, I think every dogs fan would love a year like Sydney are having, having only used 24 players.

When Williams is named at CHB
Saw him at Highpoint yesterday
He had a bigger limp then "Elephant man"
Will be lucky to play this year I reckon

I also have a query about Robbins on the bench. If he's not on the ground in the pocket, is he of any use to us? Eade doesn't play him up the ground and has already stated that he uses him to create defensive pressure on the forward line.
I prefer Go Dogs team on the proviso that Grant and Smith retire.
What to do with Robbins though?? Put him in the pocket, put Hahn on the bench and use him off the bench ala Mark West in the centre.
The concept raises more questions than it answers. Is Robbins really in our best 22?
I don't think Faulkner could be named in our best 22, when he can't get a senior game currently. I would rate Higgins and D-Mac ahead of him - and give an Addison, Baird, Tiller or Wight another pre-season they may well be ahead of him too.
Am glad a few have Skipper in the best 22 though - for all his detractors I think he has really shown something this year and given he is 193cm and undersized for the ruck role, and that he played in Adelaide with a foot injury, he has shown enough determination to improve his game to make even further advances in the next couple of years.

I'm not sure that Williams would be in the starting line-up if we had a full list. Suggest that he would probably be more likely to be an option on the bench.

Don't want to get ahead of yourselves. Williams hasn't even made his debut and he's being touted as your starting CHB for 2007.

This would be my team
FB: Moris Haris Gilbee
HB: McMahon Hargrave Grant
C: Eagleton West Griffen
HF: Gia Murphy Higgins
FF: Johnno Darcy Robbins
R: Minson Cross Cooney
I: Skipper Smith Ray Monty
In: Darcy, Murphy
Out: Street, Boyd
Very similar to the team atm, but I would say players like Williams, McCormack, Addison, Baird and Tiller will be included at some stage next year. The only other debutant I could see this year is McCormack.
I would expect Skipper and Minson to share the ruck duties and Darcy and Grant to share FF. Also expect Cooney, Griffen and McMahon to spend more time in the centre square. Players like Power, Birss and Faulkner will be on their last chance and hopefully show they are good enough to stay in 2008.

I like the look of your team, Palace, but would change only one position.
I'd be putting Street in ahead of Skipper. I'm a rap for Skip, but feel the height of Streeter to be of more value as a forward line option than Skip, who could be manned up more easily.
Love to have both in the team, but at the expense of whom? This would be my team
FB: Moris Haris Gilbee
HB: McMahon Hargrave Grant
C: Eagleton West Griffen
HF: Gia Murphy Higgins
FF: Johnno Darcy Robbins
R: Minson Cross Cooney
I: Skipper Smith Ray Monty

We need to take at least 2 rookies each year from now on.
