How anyone could defend not walking after hitting a catch like that is beyond me.

Against New Zealand I think it was in the Perth Test, Langer walked when the umpire wasn't going to give him out. Turned out it was a No Ball that the umpire overlooked. My point?? Never walk, because the chances are u'll be given out by a bad decision soon, or the Umpire isn't doing his job...

very very funny
perhaps he didn't know ;)
No-one walks in cricket anymore - at almost any level.
Get used to it
Would Matthew Lloyd tell the umpire when he gave away a free kick which the umpire didn't see? I think not.

No, you are supposed to play by the rules of the game. If a batsman knows he is out he should walk, end of story.

And chances are you'll get given not out when out along the way too, eg the LBW in the first Test.

Different game, different rules and a different tradition.
Cricket is supposed to be a gentlemans game. Everyone knows footballers are a bunch of cheating arseholes.

My point exactly, what goes around comes around. It all evens itself out in the end. Langer was also crucified by the Umpires in India, he's still a long way behind...
Did the umpire show dissent by not moving, questioning the bowlers appeal, and bringing the game into 'disrepute'.
Equity demands the umpire receives a one match suspension for the next game.

LOL!

I don't know about equity, but common sense sure does.

That's all well and good, however it does not preclude doing the right thing. If a player knows he is out he should walk.
You can't blame Boucher. He may not of even known if it was a catch or a bump ball.Cairns was the only Nue Zulander to appeal & that was only half hearted.

I think Matty is used to getting free kicks he doesn't deserve these days..in fact, he kind of expects it now...;)
I think you're right, Dave. But you'd have a hard time convincing half the Australian team, including the captain, of it. I just hope you slam one of our boys as hard next time he refuses to walk.
I saw Bevan walk on a run out on Sunday as well as Ponting (though his was BLOODY obvious).
And rest assured, if I see one as blatant as that, I will.

Dave, I am sad to say it, but I have changed my own policy this season.
Over the years I have usually walked, to the consternation of my team mates. However, I have accepted that the practice these days is not to walk, and the ethic is to accept the umpire's decision.
THe only exception is if it's a teammate umpiring (ie not a professional umpire), when I will walk if it's clearly out.
