Hey,

I am heading down to Sydney for the first time to watch Syd v Freo in July and I was looking for some advice on how to get too and from the SCG and maybe some half decent hotels that are within public transport rang from the SCG.

I wouldn't mind staying in/around the CBD and catching public transport to the game. Is there a trainline that runs that way? or is it all buses.

any tips?

The SCG is easy to get to from Central Station (railway). There's shuttle buses outside central that runs to and from the ground.

On hotels, there's plenty around to cater for almost every budget.

so if I can get to central station on the train I will be able to get a shuttle bus to the ground? excellent!

You could walk to the SCG from Central.

Buses are plentiful from anywhere in the CBD. Any Randwick, Coogee or Marouba bus stops on Anzaz Parade almost outside the ground. Alternatively, Bondi or Bronte buses go through Paddington, along Oxford Street, where you could stop off for a pre-game drink or food.

for cheap places to stay go to the motel Formule1 which has rooms that sleep 3 with a tv and bathroom only, for about $80 a night. They have one at kings cross or there are other ones in the suburbs that are a little cheaper or try a backpackers if you want to be really cheap. but your probably better off going to one of the hotels near central (I think they have the marriot near there)

also I love to go for the cheap steak or feed after the game. the Captain cook hotel near the SCG sells em for $7 but the strawberry Hills hotel near Central sells em for $5:thumbsu:
