Well how good is this guy?

I know we wanted him a couple of years ago and had a crack at try to get him to the Eagles and he decided to go to the Kangaroos.

Do you think that he wished he had come over to the Eagles now rather than the wasted club in the Kangaroos. If he was in our squad he would be getting the ball lace out and probably kicking plenty of goals with ease rather than chasing the footy around the ground and being the only forward trying to hold the Kanga's together.

Do you think that Eagles should have another crack at trying to get him or not. ( not sure how old he is ? )

Apart from the fact that the Eagles don't play for to a full forward, and when it do, it isn't always lace out, right down his throat, Nathan Thompson is only a good solid player. He suffers from a reasonably common condition known as 'Hawthorn 2001' syndrome, it infected about a dozen players 5 years ago and the residual effects are still being felt to this day. The most common symptoms are an inflated reputation which leads to over the odds trading and blurs the line of just how good a player is. Thompson's team mates Jon Hay and Jade Rawlings are also victims of this condition.

I think our delivery into the 50 leaves a lot to be desired a lot of the time. Though I think if we had Thompson, more often than not we'd look to him.

Lucky for us Chicky was one of the few older Hwaks not to get the syndrome!

Anyway on topic, we got Stinger instead that trade period which i am more that glad we did! He would be in our top 5-6 most consistent players over the past 2 years and has improved the side more than i thought he could (and more than i think Thompson would have).

I think trading for any player in their late 20's is risky for a WA team as travelling will have quite an effect on their body. Don't think he'd be in the Eagles sights anymore.

Anyway, Thompson's family didn't want to relocate to Perth in the end so i doubt things would have changed 2 years on with their kids 2 years older and nearing/at school age.

Depression = feels sad way more than others = effects his footballing ...

when he plays poorly he gets even more depressed. Just like having a player at your club who wants to play elsewhere.

Sad Player = Bad player
