This may or may not be of interest to you but I thought I would share it anyway. My physio is also Ports physio when they play in Melbourne and I asked him how Lades leg is going and he said it was absolutely 100 % and the only thing hindering him now is his own tentativeness. He is understandably really worried about doing it again but the thing is that the 2 breaks are entirely unrelated and are just 2 freak breaks each happening in different parts of the bone.He is yet to recieve heavy contact on the leg but there is nothing wrong with it and barring any major mishap he will play next year. How good is Lade by the way I seem to remember him as a workmanlike forward/ruck but others seem to think he was better than that.

All genuine footy fans should hope that the Physio's diagnosis is correct. No doubt Ladey will be very apprehensive until he can get a few games under his belt. Even then he'll probably still have that worry in the back of his mind.
He had played nearly every one of Port's 60-odd games before he did his leg the first time in round 2 of 2000 and was probably about ready to blossom into one of the premier big men of the AFL. He (and Barnaby French) had very capably carried Port's rucks through 1999 after Matty Primus did his knee early in the season at the Gabba, helping Port to make the finals in just their third season.
He's a favourite of Port fans. We reckon he's a bit 'special'. And a great fella too from all accounts. He really deserves some good luck.

He's one of Port's good long kickers, and a valuable centre square ruckman (as I recall, he wasn't crash hot at boundary throw-ins)
His best games have usually been when he's come on for Primus after Primus has been injured, but the rest of the time he's handy too.
At both of the last two skills practices he has looked fine, but they haven't really flown for any pack marks at either time. Certainly looks a character to have around the place.
At this early time the boys are looking good.

I'd like to think the titanium rod inserted in his leg would prevent any more breaks on the same leg but it will take a little time for the confidence to come back.
In the game he did it last season he had taken some good grabs and kicks at goal after a couple of slow games - this year may take a little longer but I know we are all looking forward to seeing him in our lineup again this season.
He will be a great bonus for our forward line this year - making it even harder for opposition clubs to line up against us with Tredders, Cornes, Lade as the talls and Cocky, Wanganeen, Burgoyne and Guerra crumbing the packs.
Bring on the footy.....
