View Full Version : Newman's 75m Bomb!
Not sure if anyone noticed, but as the players finished their warm up and were about to take their positions, Chris Newman has let go of a torp from inside the goalsquare and has landed it inside the larger of the 2 centre circles.
A magnificent spiral torp!
This is something that should be used on occasion's as a means of beating a zone defence! It would also get the crowd excited too!

hi risk tactic with the fear of ending like Drew petries p_iss poor effort landing in the lap of Tucky:eek:
Yeah and let's bring back the drop kick.;) I suggest Newman's torp stays as a pre-match ritual.

Works well for Wirra occasionally & Fletcher at the Dome.
Never hurts to have it up the sleeve.

While we are at it...have Richo practice his place kicking...he's tried everything else..lol
Drop kicks from full back should be mandatory in the rain.

Lids was kicking a torp nearly every game last year. Seems to have shelved it a bit this year. If teams are flooding against us, we should have Lids and Newman launch a few from outside 50. Just takes one or two goals to make the opposition rethink their strategy.

Just on that, what do we have to do to let Deledio run more with the footy? Most of the time he gets it, hes in the position where he has to stop, go back, and chip the ball. Id like to see him be the outside player in a clearance situation, where he can receive the ball, run and kick long. At the moment, hes getting it more chipped to him, and has to go back and kick over the mark.

I think it is still legal - would love to see someone get it done inside 30 seconds!!
it couldnt be illegal.
If its a team mate who is holding the ball for him, that is.
He couldnt be pinged for kicking in danger and the holder couldnt be pinged for incorrect disposal as he didn't dispose of it.
The act of touching the ball on the ground as we all know is accepted.
