Melbourne's defence isnt exactly there strong point so how come Rocca only managed 3 possesions which all came from free kicks. Hate to say it but some of our leaders really gave me the ****s today.:thumbsd:

He's been great so far this year and he had a bad game today, it happens.

delivery into the forward line was quite poor today. when we went side ways to find an option they plugged all the holes! he was rarely one out and he wasnt rewarded for his leads! rocca is least to blame!

Mabye he wants Brown to beat him in goal kicking this year? lol only kidding...or am I :p

Injuries are your main issue, same with the lions :(

Good luck next game.

Not great delivery, but anyway, when he missed 3 set shots (the usual 35m out directly in front) in a row at pre-game warm up and then two snaps which missed from the same spot, he was always going to have a bad day.

Disappointing performance, but you can't expect players to have a great game everyday. Holland held him very well which was amazing, and also, yeah, when Rocca's hot, the Pies are, if not, then the same trend.

Rocca wasn't only one! There were plenty of others in the same boat.

The midfield didn't help but even so Rocca had a bad one. When Rocca has a bad one invariable Collingwood has a bad one. Don't get down on Rocca. He doesn't always kill his opponent but it is rare he is completely eclipsed and ineffective.

Yeh true as there. As i have sed in previous threads, we can afford one lapse, lets not let it happen again. haha

Rocca will bounce back, he is a changed player i think. As is most of the team.

I thought he looked a bit tired and to be honest probably carrying a few niggles - break should do him good.

Having said that, we were slow and innaccurate getting the ball inside 50, and invariably he was outnumbered 2/3 to 1 by the time we kicked it to him. They got numbers back well, and the best way to beat that is to win clearances and get the ball forward before their players can push back. We were SMASHED at the clearances, and SLOW taking the ball forward. Gave our forwards no chance really. Through either inexperience or dudness, we had too many players who wanted to chip the ball around half back rather than run and break lines - almost a bit afraid to take risks it seemed.

I know Heater got caught a couple of times, but I was impressed that he at least tried to run and break lines. Hopefully Swan and O'Brien come back so that we have a lot more drive from half back - that will help the players up the ground a fair bit IMHO.

Melbourne were too good; ruthless in the way they hassled our guys out of everything. Have a look at the replay, Rocca was constantly blocked out of a contest and our delivery in the foward line was predictable and rushed as the melbourne mids really put physical pressure on our players. Johnno was literally held and it shows as the deemon's copped many holding infringements. Luckely they could'nt hold Dids as well otherwise it could have been worse. Rocca did look a little down but I would give the credit to Melbourne.
