Well its that time of the year again when the team has to trek of to that hole called Sydney and play in the suburban slums. How many more years in a row will we have at this crap ground.
Telstra stadium. Nothing with the word Telstra in it is any good.

True. But we have a resonable record there. Only just lost last year and did well in previous years. The reason behind it is it can seat more people then the SCG. I say, play it at the MCG then! :p :thumbsu:
Hopefully with your lack of travel, the Collingwood team management will have the nouse to actually find North on the compass and find this 'hole' you speak of.
The Swans will spank your mob.

i hate playing in sydney also, SCG is too small so we will lose. and TS is unfamiliar to us so we will also lose.
just best to stay away from NSW.

Like they did last year you mean?

Yeah, 1 point is as good as 100 when you beat the Pies! ;)

Fortunately Daks "acccidentally" mised that goal, for we would be without one of Pendlebury or Thomas!

We also missed two of our most important players, Rocca and Fraser. Add to that Rhyce Shaw, who was having a stellar year before he did his knee against Melbourne.
I think we will beat Sydney. Not by much, but enough.

I am really looking forward to this match, 3rd V 4th and hopefully we should get 70,000 to the game. I must admitt, a successful Collingwood side does add another dimension to the AFL competition.
See you in 11 days! :thumbsu:

Well its that time of the year again when the team has to trek of to that hole called Sydney and play in the suburban slums.Sydney isn't a hole...it's a great city, and as with all 5 major Australian cities, it is in the top-10 most liveable cities in the world.
Collingwood seem to play well at Telstra Stadium, and an injury depleted Collingwood lost by only 1 point last year when Tarrant should never have missed with suspension either. It was only a 14 point loss in 2004 in a poor season, and an 18 point win there in 2003.
At this stage with the expected inclusions, I think Collingwood will win by 3-4 goals.

Gee must be tough having to travel all of 3 times a year!
^^ 4 dopey, how's those 11 true home games going ? or I guess with Adelaide that'd be 10 ?
So, with a fair average of 8 home wins you'd only need 4 away (one being Adelaide) to get into the finals ?

Sydney will ask us a question: are we a top 4 side?
Win and it pretty much proves we are a top 4 side and deserve to be up there. Lose and we show we're a middling side with a bit of luck on our side.
I really really hope we can win this, its an 8 point game and all that stuff, and a real litmus test of our ability in less than ideal circumstances.
I have the usual paranoia that we're just making up numbers, but this team has shown something. There are traces of the kind of solid spirit that got us up in 2002, and some of the brightness and system that took us too second in 2003. We're not brilliant but we could be and we're not solid but we're solidifying. I think a win here over a well coached solid opposition who are definitely top 4 would be a very great thing.
The best way to conquer the travel issue is to learn to love it. Calling Sydney a "hole" and wishing you never had to go there only makes it harder on yourselves.
Malthouse proved that if you convince yourself you "love" to travel the results will come. He turned around a poor run in Adel by doing just that. And Collingwood's excellent performances at AAMI in recent years even though PORT were in their prime is a good example. You guys owned that ground for a tick there.
As usual I'm looking forward to this game. Probably the home-and-away match of the year for us in Sydney. Our two teams have offered some of the best AFL fixtures in recent years. And hole or not, Telstra is the only venue where you can get a genuine bumper crowd outside Victoria and I hope as many Pies fans as possible make the trip. :thumbsu:

Yes I agree Sydney isn't a hole it's just bad for its lack of footy and its team but only one!! Lack of coverage also but maybe it's better in recent years!

Totally agree.
Out of the Top four now:
Adelaide
West Coast
Melbourne
Western Bulldogs.*
We have won one so if we beat Sydney it will give us confidence that we can actually beat top sides than just bottom ones.

Collingwood will be playing the Swans at Telstra Stadium in Sydney every season while there is a split round. get used to it. either that or demand the afl bring back State Of Origin Football ! :thumbsu:

But it is a hole and who could blame someone for wishing not go there. Living there was even worse. Yuckey!
