#1 Chris Newman
11 Games, 1 Goal,153 Disposals, 54 Marks. 31 Tackles.
Has been pretty solid all year, has had the jobs on some key players like james hird and shannon grant to name a couple. Hasnt got a lot of the ball lately but has been doing his job. Rating 7/10
#2 Darren Gaspar
4 Games, 31 Disposals, 11 Marks, 10 Tackles
Had a poor start, decentish game against the g train, then got injured , has been pretty ordinary this season. His Disposal out of the back half is pretty costly at times. Rating 3/10
#3 Brett Deledio
10 Games, 3 Goals, 172 Disposals, 66 Marks, 18 Tackles
Has been consistantly getting the ball without dominating too much, hasnt really stood out like he did last year but has not put a foot wrong, one of his best games for the club came against the roo's on the weekend. Rating 7/10
#4 Andrew Raines
11 Games, 194 Disposals, 49 Marks, 24 Tackles.
Rainesy has gone from a fringe midfielder last season who couldnt break into the 22, to being one of the inform small backman of the comp, has been a revelation for us, adding another string to our defence, last year we struggled with the smaller type forwards, this year raines has stepped up and apart from Ablett i think he has one every battle he has had. Standout game was when he cleaned up ricciouto. Rating 10/10.
# 5 Troy Simmonds
11 Games, 14 goals, 186 Disposals, 76 Marks, 19 Tackles, 192 Hit Outs
If the best and fairest count was held now, simmo would have it in the bag, he has been the best player for the tigers this season, there are 3 others just below him form wise in the club, but he has been sensational, winning a lot of hit outs, taking marks in defence , setting up play in the midfield, drifitng forward and taking strong marks and not only kicking goals but setting them up himself. Rating 10/10
# 6 Mark Chaffey
Been injured and hasnt been sighted.
# 7 Nathan Brown
4 Games, 3 Goals, 44 Disposals, 18 Marks, 3 Tackles.
Coming back from that injury it was allways going to be tough for browny, struggled early had the break and came back and had a decent game by his standards on the weekend , lets hope he gets some confidence back. Rating 4/10 (bit harsh judging but i had to do it)
# 8 Tom Roach
1 Game, 9 Disposals, 1 Mark , 2 Tackles
Finaly got a game and he was doing well untill he got injured. Has come back now through the VFL and can't break into the side again, has to start doing somthing soon or he could be in trouble, would love to see him get another chance soon. Rating 3/10
#10 Greg Stafford
6 Games, 5 Goals, 38 Disposals, 22 Marks,5 Tackles,28 Hit Outs
Been injured and then out of form, has created a contest up forward in the absence of richo, hasnt been able to capture the goal kicking form he had in the early part of last season when terrys triangle was up and running. Rating 4/10
#11 Joel Bowden
11 Games, 1 Goal, 269 Disposals,81 Marks,26 Tackles
Another great season so far from joel, ever since he become our "quaterback" our team has looked so much better, gone are the days when a defender can have 2 possesions himself and keep his opponent to 3 goals, These days you have to create drive out of the backline and joel is one of the best in the league. Fights out of his weight division and has to play on way bigger opponents at times which results in him getting a few goals kicked on him and sometimes when he plays on the lesser guys, he doesnt give them enough respect eg Aaron Edwards last year. Rating 8/10.
Ill get the rest of the team up soon

Good read,
I guess you would have to give Stafford 5/10 due to your defense of him although realistically that rating is amazingly generous considering how bad he has been of late.

#12 Matthew Richardson
9 Games, 17 goals, 135 disposals,69 Marks, 5 Tackles
Richo had a pretty good start to the season and had a purple patch booting 2 lots of 4 goals then kicking 3.5 against carlton to go with 24 possesions. Bit quite against adelaide and geelong on the scoresheet but played his part in those wins.Has been workin as hard as ever.Rating 7.5/10
#13 Trent Knobel
3 Games, 8 Disposals, 43 Hit Outs, 3 Marks, 3 Tackles
Started the season with an injury, got a chance and did well in the hitouts, but has struggled for game time and his lack of ability to get the ball and do somthing with it will allways make him nothing more than as insurance if simmonds goes down. Rating 3.5/10
#14 Dean Polo
6 Games, 3 Goals, 95 Disposals,30 Marks, 7 Tackles.
Starred on debut, and since then has been consistant, has had the big tagging jobs on williams, wells, burton, heath black and played on steve johnson and brent stanton. Has been very impressive , aswell as tagging blokes out the game he gets his own ball aswell and generally uses it very well. Rating 7/10
#15 Kayne Pettifer
11 Games, 19 Goals,186 Disposals,93 Marks, 17 Tackles
Petts has stepped up a level, last year he started to show promise this year he has been one of the best players, his work rate is sensational, he leads the club in marks and goals, this coming from a half forward flanker, has taken some huge speccies showing how much confidence terry has got into his game now. With Pettifer and Hyde playing good footy, krakouer starting to kick some goals and tambling showing some poise and pace, a fully fit and in form brown is going to trouble a lot of opponents backlines. Rating 10/10
#16 Patrick Bowden
11 Games, 10 Goals, 215 Disposals,92 Marks, 15 Tackles
The move to trade for him has paid off so far, he didnt cost us a lot, and his footy has improved a thousand times better since he was at the dogs, has been able to play forward line, half back and wing. Lets hope paddy can keep up the form he is in. Rating 8/10
#17 Kane Johnson
8 Games, 136 disposals,43 Marks,2 Goals,17 Tackles,
Hasn't been outstanding , has just been solid, missed a few games with injury and is just slowly coming back, we look a far better team when jonno is on the field, people think he turns the ball over a lot but he doesn't he is one of the better uses of the footy at the club and is a smart player. Rating 6/10
#18 David Rodan
3 Games, 7 marks, 4 Tackles,18 disposals,
Crunch time for the D-Rod, i was one of those who thought the knee injury saved him from being cut last year, i know its hard for players to come back from a knee reco, but really rodan is on his last legs at the club pretty much and its dissapointing to see that he cant string good games together being in the best players at VFL level to earn his spot back. Rating 1/10
#19 Dean Limbach
Hasn't been used yet.
#20 Ray Hall
7 Games,94 Disposals,38 Marks, 7 Tackles,
Has missed 4 games from injury, had a shocker on the weekend vs thompson but ray is pretty underated, he is never going to be a star but he gets the job done most weeks, and he does try create some run out of the backline, is prone to some errors every now and then so its hard to fit both he and gas in the side. Rating 6.5/10
#21 Shane Tuck
11 Games, 6 Goals, 247 Disposals, 60 Marks, 34 Tackles.
Continuing from where he left of last year, the guy keeps getting the ball week in week out, very hard working, drifts forward and kicks the occasional goal, we arnt that great of a tackling team but its an area tucky is pretty good at and brings some hardness into our midfield. Rating 8.5/10
#22 Danny Meyer
4 Games, 2 Goals, 45 disposals,8 Marks, 13 Tackles,
Like the look of Meyer, has had some pretty decent games since he came into the team, tends to give away some silly free kicks by going a bit overboard in the tackles and bumps, his goal on the weekend was all class, lets hope we see plenty more meyer magic in the 2nd half of the season.Rating 6/10
#23 Daniel Jackson
5 Games, 32 Disposals,5 Tackles,4 Goals, 19 Marks.
Did okay up forward in the brisbane game, hasnt had much gametime when played, hopefully he can work hard at coburg and start kicking bags of goals there and can be brought in as a 3rd string tall for us. Rating 4.5/10
#24 Mark Coughlan
11 Games, 241 disposals,57 Marks, 36 Tackles, 3 Goals
Had a shocker vs the dogs but has come back and hit some good form, has managed over 20 disposals in all but 4 games. with a couple of 18 and 19 possesion games, leading tackler at the club and getting plenty of hard ball. Can turn the ball over a bit, but has been excellent in and under. Rating 7/10
#25 Jay Schulz
2 Games, 5 Possesions, 1 Mark, 1 Tackle
Played forward in the absence of Stafford to start the season, had 2 pretty shocking games and got injured in the 2nd. Have big wraps on jay and hopefully he can come back and use the talent he has and start taking grabs and kicking big goals for the tiges. Rating 1/10
#26 Adam Pattison
6 Games, 1 Goal, 10 Hit outs, 43 disposals, 18 marks.
Has had a chance and has done some good things but seem to be struggling a little bit of late , perhaps another stint at coburg might do him some good, has played primary as a key forward and hasnt done any damage apart from 1 goal. needs to start kicking some goals to play as a permanent forward Rating 4.5/10

I think you could probably bump up peoples ratings a bit more. Try not to go so much by stats, and more by effort and what they bring to the team. Meyer's efforts deserve more than 5/10, and Hall has been worth around a 7 id say. Thompson kicked 5.0 on him, 2 of those were from poor free kicks. Also, spoiled Thompson a number of times, and was better at ground level. Like I said, maybe go a bit more by what you see in the game, not on the stat sheet. Otherwise, pretty good.

#27 Andrew Krakouer
8 Games, 7 Goals,28 Tackles,115 disposals,33 marks.
Its been a pretty typical krakouer season so far, we have seen the lazy side of him and the side that puts heaps pf pressue on tackles hard, and the side of him getting a bit of the ball and kicking goals. Would love to see him start playing out full games of footy not good for 25 minutes then go missing for the rest. An inform krakouer getting the ball and kicking goals would add another string to what is becoming a pretty damn good small forward line . Rating 6/10
#29 Jared Oakleigh-Nicholls
2 Games, 10 Possesions, 3 Marks,1 Tackle
Lets face it, JON only got a game so far becuase of the dreamtime game, it gave him a taste of footy and now he has to go back to the VFL and work hard. We saw enough glimpses of him in that game to suggest that when his body is ready for the big time, he will be a pretty exciting player to watch. Rating 3/10
#30 Richard Tambling
10 Games, 109 Disposals,42 Marks, 18 Tackles , 5 Goals
Has started to find a bit of the footy this year, has only had 1 game over 20 possesions, usualy gets around 10-15 possesions a game, He shows so much talent and excitment when he does get the ball, the game against geelong was his best for the club , his skills , pace and ability to dodge and weave heavy traffic around packs leave most of us speechless, lets hope that as he gets more games under the belt it becomes a regular occurance of seeing the class of tambling in games. Rating 5/10
#31 Chris Hyde
11 Games,11 Goals,197 Disposals, 70 marks, 20 Tackles
Has stepped up another level and added a new dimension to his game, was more of a run with player and could play across half back, now has been playing a forward flank and wing role and kicking goals. Rating 8/10
#32 Greg Tivendale
11 Games, 8 Goals, 208 disposals, 59 marks,35 Tackles
At the end of last season if you told me greg tivendale would be still on the richmond list let alone playing good footy for us, i as many others would have just laughed at you and asked what you where smoking. Tivers was under huge pressure last year, and was very frustrating to watch, instead of kicking the ball long he just dribbled balls along the ground, this year he is back to his best, those long bombs into the forward line or his ability to just speer a pass and hit somone on the chest have been good this year, he has barely put a foot wrong this year and has added some more grunt with his tackling. Also is back to kicking those goals that he would have mist last year. Rating 8/10
#33- Brent Hartigan
7 Games, 89 Disposals,1 Goal,12 Tackles, 26 Marks
Had been pretty impressive in some games with his attacking style, he was tacking on players and his skills where a lot better then previous years. Found it hard to get game time and was forced out of the side,Im dissapointed that he hasnt been dominating the VFL trying to get into the seniors again. Rating 5/10
#34 Cleve Hughes
3 Games, 2 Marks,3 Goals, 2 Tackles , 12 Disposals
Was clearly undersized but showed us that he knows how to kick a goal, if i remember right 2 of them where snaps, when the kid bulks up and has some footy behind his belt he is going to be a major focus point of the richmond forward line. 4.5/10
#35 Matthew White
1 Game, 1 Goal, 8 Disposals,5 Marks, 1 Tackle
Looked pretty good in the limited game time he had, has the taste for footy and now to keep impressing at VFL level and come back into the team when a chance arises. Rating 3/10
#36 Will Thursfield
1 Game, 2 Possesions, 3 Tackles
Held Riewoltd pretty well untill he went down with a season ending knee injury, may well have one that game if he didnt get injured. Has shown that he has the ability to be a good key back player. Cant wait to have him back next season . 3/10
#37 Travis Casserly
Not used this season
#38 Luke McGuane
1 Game , 3 Possesions, 2 Marks,
Had to play in the sydney game when we had all of our firct choice key defenders out, tough ask for the kid who isnt ready for afl football yet. 1/10
#39 Andrew Kellaway
10 Games, 3 Goals, 158 disposals, 85 Marks,21 Tackles
What can you say about Andy Kellaway, IMO he is the heart and soul of the tigers, he hasnt got the best of ability but he gets the most out of what he has more than anyone at our club, the guy consistantly throws himself into positions where he can get badly hurt. Has been in some of the best form of his life lately, and has even snuck forward and kicked some crucial goals. Rating 9/10
#40 Kelvin Moore
Not used this season, been injured.
#41 Nathan Foley
10 Games, 2 Goals, 136 Disposals, 17 Marks,33 Tackles,
Little gun player, does all the hard work, loves getting the handball out of a pack, lays the tackles, chases hard, very important member of the team. 7.5/10
#42 Jeremy Humm
1 Game, 14 Disposals, 3 Marks, 1 Tackle
Got a promoted from the rookie list through injurys and was given a go,found a bit of the footy but didnt use it all that well, needs to do a lot if he is to get added to the list next season. Rating 2/10
Rookies Angus Graham, Cam Howatt have not been used

Like I said, if your going to rate White, JON and Thursfield on disposals so far etc. you shouldnt bother. All 3 have played pretty well given the time on ground they've had. JON and White wouldve played less than half a game, and still got a bit of the ball. Thursfield was playing well as a defender and how you could give him a 1, is quite strange. Anyway, if thats how you're going to do it, thats ok.

I changed a few ratiings, i mainly had guys like meyer and that down becuase of the amount of games they have had,
Its tough to rate players who don't get a lot of game time or suffer injurys, i had meyer and a few others down becuase the amount of games they didnt play.
8-10 should be for the players that are starring etc Simmonds,
6-7 should be for guys who are playing pretty damn good footy but still have some head of them
4.5-5.5 i would think are players who are doing what they can with the amount of games and game time they have had so far and can still contribute to the team
1-3 is pretty much for injured players and players that struggled to get into the team or struggle to stay in the team.
If we where in the top 5 or 6 id have higher ratings but since where still just half and half and on the improve i thought id go lower rather than higher rating

Mate great work and agree with most if not all.
One thing though,
IMO - 10's shouldn't be given unless one is faultless. 9.5 yes but not 10.
Saying someone has been a 10 is saying there is no improvement left in him or improvement required.
Good read though.

You're comparitive ratings look pretty good, based on the scale you've used (which is a fairly generous one for the players). Just a few quibbles from me. Raines has been good but not 10/10, especially compared to J Bowden who you've given an 8. J Bo has become the onfield general and probably most important player. Only Simmonds would be comparable in the rankings. P Bo has also been good but probably not 8/10, when Richo is scored lower. Like Raines the score has probably been bumped a bit because expectations were lower. And I don't think Hall would have a pass mark at this stage, or maybe scrape in at 5/5.

#4 Andrew Raines
# 5 Troy Simmonds
#11 Joel Bowden
#15 Kayne Pettifer
enjoyed it... good work.
the 4 above would have to go close to richmonds best for the season thus far and throwing in maybe also coughlan... Raines has reached new levels as an emerging youngster and pettifer is finding career best form... lets hope it continues

Roach gets a 3, played one game and is really disappointing in the VFL and McGuane gets a 1 because he got beaten by the best Full Forward in the game in his first game of AFL football.
Roach probably deserves a 1 aswell. He's in trouble at seasons end if thinks dont start to improve.

O'Loughlin killed McGaune , Hall killed Bowden.
And i agree with you Roach is in trouble
Excellent read - my only (very minor) gripe is that Chris Hyde deserves to be up with the best of them.
Nice work Staff. thought Tambling could have been rated a tad higher, but that's being picky. Thought overall, perhaps you overrated players, but once again...picky. Good job.:thumbsu:
