Darren Gough has responded to the latest snub from the England selectors by claiming "everyone" knows he should be in his country's one-day squad.
The 35-year-old Yorkshireman, now plying his trade for Essex, was overlooked for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka.
But he insists he is still in contention for a place in the squad for next year's World Cup, and even claimed he could still be playing Test cricket.
"Everyone's been saying to me they can't believe I've not been around in the England squad," Gough claimed in an interview with the July edition of Wisden Cricketer magazine.
"Everybody I'm playing against. You need experience to win competitions, as teams have proved in the past, and I know I can still do a job in international cricket.
"Other players who tried to fill my boots didn't do any better than Darren Gough, and they went for a lot more runs than I would go for."
Gough also revealed that he now believes he was wrong to retire from Test cricket in 2003 because of concern about the ability of his knee to withstand the pressures of five-day matches.
"If I'd waited and not rushed back to play for England I could probably still have been playing for England now, even though I'm 35, 'cos I am good enough."

I agree with Goughy, he should be playing for England, if injuries keep hurting us I would bring him out of retirement for the Ashes

If Gough is a chance to play the Ashes, Australia's odd of winning will nose dive.

You're probably thinking of Gough circa 1997. Out of shape, inconsistent 2006 Gough would struggle to crack the NSW twos.

Nah I'm thinking of 2005 Gough who outshone the current Aussie opening medium pacer Gillespie
