Clarrie Grimmet had not played a test until he was slightly older than Warne would be at that point in his life. (I am pretty sure that is true)

Well they weren;t out as it were, they were travelling from Leeds to South London. I think he finished them off quickly and we scored at 6 an over when chasing because they were all knackered.

one of the great spinners.
Kiwi born, came to Australia, couldn't get a crack in Victoria due to selectors anti-kiwi bias. Finally got a gig for South Australia, dominated the shield, finally debuted at about 33, 34 years of age after more anti kiwi bias. dominated test cricket taking nearly 6 wickets a test.
got dropped after taking 44 wickets in a 5-test series against South Africa when he was about 42 years of age or so....
If he was given a proper go at shield level and test level, even given the smaller amount of tests they played back then, Murali and Warne would still be chasing him...
