Seems that Telstra have bought the rights to every official AFL club website, except Essendons.
Apparently Telstra's internet developer Sportal will be designing all the club websites. Personally, I think that Sportal sucks. If you go to www.sportal.com.au you will see what the new AFL website, and all other club sites will look like.
Yeah ... Essendon struck a deal with Channel 7 and www arm i7. I guess i don't 'really' mind this. How would you like for the EFC website to become a generic re-hash of opposing clubs' websites? I sure wouldn't. But then again ... why i7? Seeing that they have just lost the football rights ... a deal like the one reached seems strange to me.

I just got an email from i7 saying that they are striking a deal with AOL. Looks like the Essendon website will be either run by AOL or Telstra.
So Long i7.

That is the way sportal has looked for some time but I would expect it to be revamped when launched and put on a better server. This site takes quite some time to open and hardly anyone looks at it. Imagine how long it will take to open with the expected increased traffic.

i7 doesn't run Essendon's site, they're just a sponsor of it. The EFC retains full ownership of the site.

Correct. Imagine if they did run it. Or try to run it.
