Out of the total 27 episodes made and screened for this series only 13 are on the newly released and incorrectly entitled 'season 4' DVD. Surely they could have said on the DVD that it's only half the series!!?!?
I have just brought it home tonight and now feel particularly jibbed. Here I am a fan of one of the most entertaining new animated series to come out of the US in years and this is what I get for my money.
Not. Happy. Quagmire.

I was considering buying the DVD a few weeks back but when I saw there were only 13 episodes on it (I'm pretty sure it was mentioned on the DVD package somewhere) I decided it wasn't good enough value for $40 or so and bought something else. I'll wait for it to drop in price sometime in the future.
These days with many TV shows that I know are going to be on DVD, I don't bother to watch them on TV (especially when their scheduling time is erratic) and wait to buy them on DVD. That Ch. 7 showed Series 3 of Family Guy at 11:30am on weekdays a couple of years back was disgraceful.
Family Guy season 4 only had 10 episodes, so really your getting 3 bonus episodes.
Season 5 has 17 episodes.

It says on the front "Complete Season Four Collection."
LIES I TELL YOU!!!! LIES!!!!!
And I concur that Channel 7 murder it Family Guy and Scrubs with their late at night timeslots. It's so bad it makes me want to curl up in a ball and watch MASH. And not the early MASH episodes where it's funny, but the later years when Alan Alda directed it and it got all preachy. Is anyone with me on that? Anyone? Anyone?

I was pretty annoyed as well!! I've heard differing stories, but that's DEFINITELY Season 4 that's on TV currently?
Its not a lie, that is the complete season 4 on sale on dvd.
Channel 7 are currently showing season 5, not 4.
This episode 5-14 Peterotica is on next thursday the 22nd on channel 7

And yet their website includes it all as Season 4. All I ask for is some clarity...........and a picture of a chick with some big jugs.

Fox in America had a big break after the first 10 episodes, so when they put more back on they decided to make it season 5, probably to make more money by making 2 different DVD's, but that is definatley all of season 4

The DVDs are 'Season 4' as it screened in the US. As others have explained they are now up to 'Season 5'.
But the whole bunch of them put together are classified as 'Production Season 4'. The same thing happened to Futurama. There were 4 production seasons, but Fox split them up into 5 seasons on TV.
The prices for American Dad are even worse. Some places I saw had that at $45.

Seaon 4 is 10 episodes, plus 3 bonus ones on the DVD.
Season 5 has 17 and is currently airing on channel 7 on Thursday nights.
End whinging now. The show is fantastic and if you want more, have a look on the net. Seaosn 6 is currently airing in America and its the best yet. This show, much like South Park, gets better with every season. Worth every cent.

There aren't any new episodes until November. Season 6 hasn't started yet.
Ive got it now and its not bad value.
Good special features and i like the 30 minute documentry, so its not all doom and gloom.
Never actually realised how funny the season was, absolute **** up.
Season 5 is also very good and hopefully the trend continues.

I remember reading a list of the 10 worst M*A*S*H episodes ever and would you believe it more than halfof them were written by Alder himself. Hillarious.
