i think he has improved immensely and i believe i was one of few that didn't want him dropped. Yes I'm proud of myself lol ;) Anyway does anyone think this is just a flash in the pan or good form to stay..possibly a second aa coming up. Is he eligible for most improved player as well after being sh1te last year?

Not a bad game from Fletch today.

I think he is steadily improving each week.
Probably should have found form in the WAFL after his pre-season efforts, but he is almost back to his best now anyway. Heres hoping for a big second half and finals season.

Better than what he was a couple of weeks ago. Just needs to get that clanger count down.

I thought he was the Eagles best vs Port, or if not best then top 3.

Dead crap again this week.
You've got to expect more from an AA midfielder.
Sure he get's plenty of the ball but he loves handballing to a man in trouble.
With our depth in the midfield he's got to lift his game a hell of a lot if he expects to hold his place.

Useless.

His disposal is awful, puts too many team mates under pressure.

Does possess an uncanny knock in finding the ball but must do better with it.

Nice goal though.

Fletcher I tell you watching him on the night I was pulling my hair out he gets a lot of it yes BUT he is the clanger king, He either turns it over or kicks it straight to the opposition player or out of bounds.

Fletchers good useful positions V's his clangers he would be in the red I would think!:thumbsd:

Given the chance Chad Fletcher is a big name player that I would trade for a KPP, I couldn't say that about any of our other star midfielders. If only he could kick.

Sounds like butler played well again this week in the WAFL.
Fletch is gonna have to watch his back.

Fletch form is improving, thought he really fell away badly towards the end of last year and was woeful in the finals. Yes his disposal lets him down but on the positive side he is a ball magnet.

I still panic whenever he gets the ball, and last night reiterated why. He's still offloading to team-mates under pressure and making shtye decisions. I still marvel that people can say he's one of our best midfielders; are they only looking at number of possies on the stats sheet? Because they're obviously not taking his shocking clanger count into the equation :(

It's all very well being a ball magnet (aka seagull), but he's doing stuff all with it when he gets it.

He's a damn good footballer and we'd be idiots if we traded him.

He could be a damn good footballer if he use's the footy a hell of lot better but at this stage he is TRADEABLE no-doubt about it.

his foot disposal is fine i think he just needs to fix up those handballs where he puts people into trouble and maybe go with his first options...not run and ten stuff up

Not if we could get a decent forward in return.

Seagull midfielders like Chad are a dime a dozen.

Agreed.
I remeber Cousins used to be labeled a 'seagull' but Id have him anyday of the week over Fletch!

fletcher is useless imo. sure he gets a lot of the ball, but its only because the opposition never bother manning up on him. They know that his disposal is suspect. I'm sure i've seen fletcher handball or kick directly to the opposition just as many times as i'm seen him hit our man, and he'll quite often kick to a one on one, or to a free man, but loop it high enough to allow the opposition enough time to perfectly line up a boen crunching spoil.

If I was coaching against him i'd instruct my players to give him space and let him get the ball because he is a turnover machine

Fletcher is a good player, but he's not what you would class a damaging midfielder. He compliments hard runners and hard ball winners like Cousins, Judd, Kerr, Braun and Embley, but he's been overtaken by the last four by quite some margin in the last two years.

You'd think that for a player of his size, he'd be ideal for setting someone up with a smart handball or short stab pass. I really cannot recall how many of his possessions do a whole lot of damage to the opposition, though. He really should be running around annoying the hell out of other teams.
