That is very sad as I have really enjoyed watching the way he's played in the 3 games so far. Nathan Astle is due to come next week & Stephen Fleming should be back on the weekend hopefully for the Kiwis.

It's bad luck for the Kiwi's, but it still won't help Australia. We'll still get flogged.

Oh well, at least that means Harvey won't have to get embarrassed by Harris again, he will be happy. The fact that the Aussies are considering Harris a threat worries me...what is happening to Australian cricket!

Wow, then we'll just get beaten by three wickets and by ten runs now, beause Harris has been giving us the stick recently.
Now all we need is for Vettori to go back to Auckland and the South African's to come down with food poisoning (well the seff efricans did it to the Allblacks during the World Cup rugby final in 1995) then we're in with a chance.
Ah christ, who and my kidding, we'll find another way to lose regardless of what happenes
:D

Wow. That is huge news and a huge blow to the Kiwi's. Wasn't he stand in captain though? So who will take over?

OK, I just read Nathan Astle will take over. Interesting choice!

Astle would have being a regular if he was here for the first few games. They aren't losing anything with that replacement.

Chris Cairns was acting captain.

Chris Harris heading back to Australia
New Zealand Cricket - 18 January 2002
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The CLEAR Black Caps have delayed naming their side to take on South Africa in the VB Series One-Day International tomorrow (Saturday 19 January) to allow further assessment of Stephen Fleming's elbow injury.
The team will be named at 3pm New Zealand time tomorrow (Saturday) with the match due to start at 5.30pm New Zealand time.
However Canterbury all-rounder Chris Harris is expected to be included in the side after returning briefly to New Zealand today (Friday) for personal reasons.
At this stage Harris plans to travel back to Brisbane tomorrow morning.

As Tubby Taylor says 'Chris Harris bowls doorknobs'. Glad he's back in the NZ side, one of my favorite players - kinda like Pat Symcox, everyone loves to hate him because he's so old.

He's returned home again & is unlikely to return.

Just read on the NZ Herald Site that the reason he's gone back to NZ is because of his mother-in-law's ill health.
