We usually take 2 ruckmen in so I don't know about Ryder being dropped.

Pev kicked ass against Geelong and I was desperately hoping he'd keep it up, but i was mistaken, with JJ hopefully back to his best Pev can play for Bendigo again. We all hope Bolts gets dropped every week but in never happens LOL.

For christ's sake...BRING LEE IN! We need all the help we can get against Thompson and possibly Rocca if they want to upset our team structure down back n front.

At least, we can have a crack at staying in touch for 100 mins (with 120 mins being out of our capabilities right now...). Big wraps on Thompson right now...he'll tear us a new one with his form Im afraid to say

DO YOU AGREE THAT SCOTTY SHOULD PLAY AT FF.
IS HIRD A DEFINATE NON-STARTER?

DO YOU AGREE THAT SCOTTY SHOULD PLAY AT FF.

At times, yes. For the full game, no.

I thought Reynolds looked really good leading from the square last time out.
We do need Lucas to push up across half-forward and up to the wing, especially with so many young players playing between half-back and half-forward. We need someone that will push up and become a target.

He also breaks the play open with the way he uses the ball because he'll often run 10m and kick it 50-60 and with a player like Reynolds who is so quick off the mark, we can really use that to our advantage.

It's also a good opportunity for Johns to play on a lesser full-back. He's probably played on to top 5 full-backs in the comp over the last 6 weeks. So it's a chance to have a look at him.

IS HIRD A DEFINATE NON-STARTER?

He didn't sound to confident on the news the other night. But I'm not really sure, I presumed they might give him another week off.

There is no excuse to play Bolton though he isnt playing horribly. Quite simply he is not going to play in a premiership side at Essendon, he offers little physical support to young players (Solly does) and arent we supposed to be looking at all of the kids on our list? I think Lee and Jolley are the two players in the VFL who have the form on the board and actually deserve a game.

Unfortunately i only got to see the first half against Sandringham, but Lee did nothing at all to impress in that half.
Did he have a better second half.
He seems to be attracting a lot of attention from supporters.

Sorry but i havent seen enough of him to pass a judgement

I tried to watch most of the game and I didn't see Lovett do much at all.

Lonergan looked pretty good. Didn't see Lee do a whole lot.

Lovett did bugger all on saturday.

He turned up, that was good enough for me.

If Hird doesn't play, we need another goal kicker. Realistically he was never dropped in the first place and his form wasn't all that bad. He's too good to play at Bendigo.

Lee his oponent virtually kickless which is always a good thing for a back;) Wouldnt say he did nothing at all to impress.
Was then moved onto Sautner who had kicked 6 and kept him goaless.

Lovett as a goal-kicker ??!!

Fair enough he can take a running snap from 30m but no chance as a marking target inside 50, let alone set shots under pressure. I'd like to see him on the wing forever, if only he could get the discipline together to do some tagging.

Longy413
26 Jun 2006, 22:48
12 goals in 8 games, yeah I reckon that makes him a goalkicker.

His finishing isn't what it was last year (50%), but without Lloyd he's our best setshot for goal on our list. And he is a fantastic mark for his side, as good as anyone around. Good leap and a great set of hands when fully stretched.

And you want our best attacking player to do some tagging? Interesting.

Im seriously hoping they replace McPhee and MJ down back n place them closer to the forward 50 to add to some much needed firepower.
Dyson is also a better than avg shot at goal...so it wouldnt hurt in using him further up the ground.

the match report in the age seemed to think Mark Bolton was on Cameron Bruce in the first half...

He was, sort of.

Bruce was trying to go to Hird, Bolton was trying to go to Bruce.
Hird would then try to take Bruce to full-forward, which resulted in Carroll going to Hird.

When Hird would push back up the ground Bruce again tried to go with him. With Bolton of course following.

It was the reason Hird was floating across half back by himself and Melbourne were able to get Rivers free across our forward half.

Oh okay. Cause Bruce really didn't do much for two quarters. Think he had five touches for the half. Did Sheeds move Bolton off him in the third?

Lonergon should come in. He was great on Saturday and can go forward and kick goals. Carts also was abit impressive with his work around the ground also his ruckwork is good also.
