Here in Australia we'll probably have to wait awhile for it, but hopefully it'll be worth it.
Three years after Fox canceled the show, Matt Groening's "Futurama" will resume production for a 13-episode run on Comedy Central. The new episodes will be added to the network's library of 72 "Futurama" episodes previously licensed from 20th Century Fox Television. Voice talent Billy West, Katey Sagal and John DiMaggio will return for the new episodes, which will debut in 2008.
"There is a deep and passionate fan base for this intelligent and very funny show that matches perfectly with our audience and it is great that we can offer them not just the existing library, but something they've never seen as well," said David Bernath, senior VP, programming, Comedy Central.
"Futurama" marks the third Fox project revived by basic cable in recent years. New episodes of "Greg the Bunny" are being ordered by IFC, and Fox resurrected "Family Guy" after the series found success on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim.
Fantastic stuff. However with the movie in production i thought that was going to wrap up the show in a way (leela fry getting married, and possibly the proffeser carking it, zoidberg perhaps getting rich).
So i hope the movie doesn't change the show one bit, i hope fry and leela stay apart.
Futurama unlike most cartoons all the storylines kind of form together with an earlier storyline, and that story just keeps on going. The show would lose so much if Fry and Leela got married.

I had heard that the DVD movies had been abandoned in favour of producing this new season. I may be wrong though.

great news... to be honest I didn't think it would happen... though I'm little nervous that the new episodes won't live up to what has gone before... I mean Futurama's last episode had an absolutely perfect ending, it was both sweet and funny, hopefully the new ep's won't sully it like Star Wars Eps 1 and 2. Anyway's its very exciting to hear... as Fry said: it's like that movie with that drug trip that I saw when I was on that drug trip!!

Update on new Futurama episodes.

Earlier this year Groening said the movies will be chopped up to make the episodes. If they have changed their mind, it looks like one of the DVD movies is still going ahead http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futurama:_Bender%27s_Big_Score
I still haven't seen series 4 or 5

Season '5' was from my understanding what they called the last dozen or so episodes in the US. The box set I have only has 4 seasons but on the last few disks they mention the fact that some of the episodes are from season '5' on the audio commentaries. This season ended with The Devils Hands are Idle Playthings, which was of course the final episode.

Futurama was made as four seasons however it was broadcast out of the intended order by FOX which resulted in "five" seasons. All the episodes were released in the four seasons on DVD, so there is no season five dvd.
As for the new stuff, I will definitely be downloading when it gets released in the US and then buy them as soon as they are released here!
I certainly wont be waiting for Channel 10 to get off their ass and show it. Knowing them, they will be showed on a 10 month delay and then stretch out new episodes with repeats every other week

from wikipedia:
At Comic-Con 2007 it was announced that Futurama will first return on DVD on November 27 2007 as a full-length film called Bender's Big Score. Three more DVD films will follow. The films will then be edited into episodes (four per film) for TV that will air on Comedy Central in 2008.

Zoidberg: Bah! Good riddance to them! Now Zoidberg is the popular one!
Farnsworth: Yes, yes, let's all talk to Zoidberg!
(They all start talking to him)
Zoidberg: Oh, well, you know...
