View Full Version : The real Acid Test
Just looking at melbourne, they are in great form. They've actually won 8 of their last 9 matches or something like that, and seem to have slipped under the radar a bit.
I think this one will be tougher than the West Coast game. We're at the MCG, as well.
We're going to have to play well and truly out of our skins to win this.
Everyone proclaimed last week as the real acid test, but the eagles have been in poor form, and without judd, look a much weaker unit. This is our real acid test.

This week will tell us whether we deserve to make the finals or not, i dont expect us to beat Melbourne but i hope we are competitive atleast.

Should be a good test. We have never beaten them at the G. They have won 4 of the last 7 games against us.
Bruce and Green usually give us a bit of a touch up, but they also have White, McDonald and Johnstone in form.
Our current form is very good. I'll tip Port in a thriller, because I think that Lade and Broges will beat White and Jamar. If they don't, then at least a few of our youngsters get to strut their stuff on the hallowed turf.

Everyone justifiably said West Coast were a far harder test than the three opponents we'd just beaten. Which they were, but IMO it wasn't the acid test it was simply a match to tell us something about ourselves.
The Melbourne match will tell us even more. However the real acid test IMO will be Collingwood and Adelaide. These two teams are homing in on a GF berth and wins would not only be sweet as always but we could even begin to dream.......

Anyone heading over for the game?
Given we haven't been able to beat Melbourne at the MCG ever, including when we were minor premiers and Melbourne were having one of their outside the eight years, if we do manage to win here I think we can be pretty confident of a top 5 or 6 finish NEXT year. As long as we keep playing the young guys delivering the goods, anything this year is a bonus.

I would have thought that the real Acid test would be Brisbane v Freo. I mean all those trippy colours.
Sorry.

As has been said previously, Melbourne @ MCG has been a match where we regularly play our worst most uninspired football for the year, every year. Would be nice if we could change that around this year.

I always find it amazing that this happens. You would think that the boys would get revved up after it has happened a few times but no they do not seem to.
What gets in their heads?
Anyone heading over for the game?
Troy is heading over with the cheer squad.

This is your acid test. If you think the pies are your acid test you're mistaken. WE play the MCG better than any. WE destroyed the pies with key players out of our line up. WE have a lot more better individual players. You guys do have a sniff and i come from Adelaide so i know how you've been going. Tredders out will sting you and if you also look at our line up there are a lot of players that need stopping and can tear a game apart. Johnstone, Bruce, Yze, Green, Neitz, Davey, Pickett, McLean, Robbo, White, McDonald. We have more freakish players than any team in the comp and we'll take alot of stopping. You have some amazing players such as the burgoins, pearce and cornes and alot of solid contributors. You're in great form but we havent been beaten at the G this year and you're about to run into a brick wall.
