Jars is always pushing the Norf boys' for AFL selection. Guess he thinks it makes him look like a Super Coach.

Jarman wants a roof over Football Park too.

It makes his job easier if AFL players coming back to North think he's fully behind them than if they don't.

i fail to see how there can be anything wrong with a coach pushing one of his own players barrow. im a roosters fan, and i know jars often talks before his brain is in gear, and daniel motlop is a player who can be best described as flakey. but to suggest the coach has a hidden agenda is a bit silly. AFL coaches do it all the time when it comes to things like AA selection and the likes.
truth is motlop has been in some pretty good form for us, with several 4 and 5 goal bags in recent weeks, and on his day can be a matchwinner. ports current form suggests tho, that there isnt a spot for him at this point. danyle pearce is having a purple patch at the moment and his would be the position motlop would be looking at taking. i think its more a case of jars keeping motlops name in fromt of the selectors for consideration should there be a losing streak or a few injuries.

Is Jarman a much bigger Power supporter than he lets on to be?
He tends to really praise us up, and offering advice on how we can turn things around when things aren't going so well, and he says Choco is his mate.

.....ports current form suggests tho, that there isnt a spot for him at this point. danyle pearce is having a purple patch at the moment and his would be the position motlop would be looking at taking.....There's a spot for Motlop if he's good alright; there's just a lot of doubt that he can bring discipline and a hard-arsed effort into our team. Flashy performances that get him one miracle goal and cost the team two simple ones are not wanted. He and Pearce are not competing for spots. Pearce is being played in the midfield, even defence. It's just that his aggressive play is getting him one or two opportunistic goals a game.
Is Jarman a much bigger Power supporter than he lets on to be?.....No. He is just not reflexively anti-Port. If we do something well he's big enough to say it. If we stuff up he's as delighted as any other Crows supporter.

ill take that as gospel seeing as youd be watching him alot more closely than i. your comments on motlop are also spot on. unfortunately for you guys youre more likely to get half-assed than hard-assed at the moment. he does seem to be putting in a bit more in the last couple of weeks tho.

Surely he's not trying to butter up the board for 2008 or 2010  :D

Im not so sure, I think I heard a board member call us exactly that the other day and then there have been at least two occasions this year when they have played that old song back at the Club after the game. :o

Maybe I'm a cynic (ok I am!), but I've always read Jars columns as sticking the boot in at every chance - even when he 'praises' us it's done in a fashion to big note him and belittle Choco and Port. A few 'mates' thrown in doesn't change that.
Motlop has been around the block a bit, but for all his alleged talent and experience, he has miles to go to even come close to catching a youngster like Danyl Pearce. Seems like everything the NM supporters were saying about Motlop were true - no heart, very sporadic. I for one, have had enough of that type of player.

Jars aside, I wouldn't mind seeing Motlop get a go, especially if Tredrea is ruled out.

Pred, I think you're the only w@nker!!
That's typical of you to judge Daniel after he was out for most of last season with injuries and could be headed that way this season. I'm sure if he had a choice, he'd choose to stay injury free. You can't single out Daniel's performance this season because he definitely wasn't the worse in Ports first 5 games. You should be getting behind him instead of sledging...shows how much of a true Port supporter you are!!
Daniel was dropped, and has kicked 18 goals from 4 games. I think he's earned his right to play for Port again.

Whilst I agree with the general thrust of what you say, it's a bit sad to see your first post on BF contain a personal attack.

Well I apologise but I'm over people having a go at Motlop...so I thought it was warranted.
Give him a decent chance to find form and at least be injury free.

I'm sure if he had a choice, he'd choose to stay injury free. Injuries aside, he has the endeavour of a caravan site. I direct your attention (such as it is), to the posts of numerous other Port board members on other threads for confirmation, as obviously you haven't seen him play for us.
You can't single out Daniel's performance this season because he definitely wasn't the worse in Ports first 5 games.Clearly in your mind, criticism=singling out. Wrong. That would be saying he was the only player at the club who needed to pull up his socks. He isn't, but he does.
You should be getting behind him instead of sledging...I will be 100% behind him when he shows some good old fashioned PAFC grit - again I refer you to my posts on such players.
shows how much of a true Port supporter you are!!You really think that, do ya? My opinions on this board may not always be agreed with (whose ever are?), but I don't believe anyone on here would ever question how much of a PAFC supporter I am. Why should I pay any attention to the opinion of a blow-in like yourself?
I actually smell a troll, but I'll play your game this time.

Oh come on Pred if you were a true believer you'd set your tent up in Queen St, and not the land of the Emperor/Rising Sun whatever it is.

I'm a North Melbourne member and a North Adelaide member (but a Central Districts supporter...long story)
Pred's right, it's an opinion I've had at North Melbourne and it's been strengthened watching him play at North Adelaide, yes he's kicked quite a few goals lately. But if he didn't spend most of each Rooster's game flicking between utter laziness and lookie me lookie me, he'd have scored 30 goals in the last 4 games. He seems to get his head right in sporadic bursts for about 15 minutes when he's the star he's always promised he could be and then goes missing again or starts going for freak goals and kicks them straight into
the post.
His injuries limit him, but his attitude's the real thing that hold him back.
As a North Melbourne supporter would I rather have a fit Motlop back or Pearce - it'd be Pearce in a heartbeat.
Yeah, or on the back of a Barra fishing boat ;) :D
My poor old boat would be thinking about retirement considering the lack of use it's suffered lately...
