As soon as he starts showing glimpses of coming back to form he goes and hurts the knee again.
Would be frustrating for him.

Good news for Andy Lee.
Yeah good news for Andrew Lee, bad news for Solly
would be good to seen some new players in the side, i havent seen much of these 2 players. Are they going to get a game? and do the look likely to make a career for themselves at afl level?
Andy Lee to play agianst Roos :thumbsu: any chance for Sam Lonergan??

Gee who'd have thought he'd have persistent knee problems after playing him when it was injured for so long.

Im just happy that solo is not playing. Thats one player we don't have to worry about. Is Fletcher playing because your club has got him down under hamstring in the heraldsun.

It was actually a groin injury and yes he is right to play :D

Thank you for the update.
He came back successfully after his knee re-co in 03, no reason why he cant accomplish this a second time, as long as he gets his mind right.
Im hoping we see him more regularly in the forward line. We could use some more aggression in our forward 50 from what Ive seen of late

He trained last night, so he might still play.

Yeah his form has been phenomenal, I reckon he should have won the Brownlow last year. A Brownlow is a certainty this year.
And yes, aggression. We really could do with him giving away even more free-kicks (http://stats.rleague.com/afl/stats/players/D/Dean_Solomon.html#tot).

Im speaking about the year following his break, re-read it and UNDERSTAND IT.
Looks like you're suffering from a simple case of premature adjudication.

He's given away 15 free kicks this season. 5 of them from 2 games. which means 10 from the other 10 games.
Mark McVeigh has given away the same number, and Heffernan has given away 19, while McPhee has given away 23.
Solomon hasn't given away more then his fair share of free kicks.
While his form hasn't been great this year, he has generally managed to keep his direct opponent pretty quiet (other then petifer).
I wouldn't expect anything positive out of red+black

Not in relation to Solomon anyway. year after year he consistently concedes 2-3x more freekicks than he earns. And when you watch us play, his infringements are noticeable.
With regards to the club, I'm a realist. Before the season, I believed we were likely to finish 10th-12th. After Round 4, I thought we were looking good for 14th-16th. And I predict we won't make finals next year. You can call me negative, but I'd say I'm also right. I'm not upset about us being 16th, I accepted long term pain 10 weeks ago. But examples such as failing to drop Solomon even once at the expense of looking to the future do annoy me.

Dude, you've gone very negative on the game thread. Isn't an honourable loss to North good enough?
I am very biased, but I thought Solly was great tonight@! Really put in and showed a number of instances of great leadership! Well done Deano!

In regards to Solly, his entire game is based on his aggression, man n ball. Bet you didnt complain in our halcyon days of 99-01...

Thank you Capt. Obvious .....again!;)

he's been very good for a month at least
Yeah, that certainly wasn't Solly's worst game. B for effort I thought

Lots of supporters are realists. The difference is you seem to focus and comment only on anything negative . You have a set against certian players and refuse to concede they can do anythong good.
Didnt your mother ever tell you if you havnt got anything nice to say then dont say anything :D
In reality a lot of what you say is applicable as far as our current situation goes but you do tend to focus solely on the bad.

If im not mistaken, TripleM removed Sam Newman for having that very mindset.;)

Yeah you're right, but the truth is that a lot about Essendon really stinks at the moment. Injuries to Lloyd and Hird do not excuse 12 consecutive losses, which will soon become 14. This will be our equal worst (if not worse) streak in 110 years of football, and the club, from the top down, deserves criticism.
As far as being positive, I believe I stood up for Stanton when someone criticised him for being over-rated. He is a great prospect, and I think we have some decent youngsters, but no way do I think we'll be pushing for a flag in 3-4 years. If that's negative, so be it.

I would never say we could push for a flag but you never know what could happen. A good draft this year. Some decent recruits and no injuries to key players and we could be into the finals in a couple of seasons.
Fact: Dean has reached his peak as a footballer and is most unlikely to reach terrific heights of 98-01. Fact: The game is evolving. The ability to run all day and possession of speed are almost prerequisites to play AFL footy in 2006 and beyond. Solly is struggling in both areas. Fact: You can rely on Solomon to put his head over the pill, keep his eye on the ball at all times, protect team mates and fly the flag. Is that enough to keep his career going? Short term (next year) Probably YES. Long Term- Serious Doubts.

Archer has done pretty well with Solly's style of play....

'IF' that happens finals are a 'possibility' next year
