Yup. Four villains in this one. Venom, the Lizard, Green Goblin jr, and the Sandman.
Off the scale.

I HATE multiple villains!
Didn't anyone learn from the Batman movies?
One villain, especially when it's a major villain like Venom, is more than enough.
Just too much to get through their origin, beef with Spiderman, battles etc.
Now they're gonna do that with four!
(Admittedly all that's been done for the new Green Goblin in the first two movies. All James Francou has to is put on the suit, which I hope is much better than Willem Dafoe's Halloween costume.)
Having said all that, of course I'll be seeing Spidey 3.

Agree with this.
The introduced villains back-story has to be covered though, and both Spidey films spent around 45mins+ introducing the villains. It looks like Venom might only be introduced at the end. Spiderman definitely has the symbiote with him in this one.
For those who don't know-the symbiote/black costume (in the comics) tries to take over Parker, who defeats it. The symbiote then merges with Eddie Brock (small time crook who Spidey apprehended and sent "up the river"), becoming Venom. Both have beefs with Spidey and they become a serious thorn in his side. Very 90's-but would still look awesome on the screen.

Plenty of other info at this site concerning Spidey3.
Some financial info was leaked a few months ago also. Seemed to suggest that 3 and 4 are being shot back-back.

Batman Returns had 2 Villains and is still considered to be a great movie, Batman Begins had 2 villains as well.

Reckon ALL the Batman films have been decidely average.
Except for Batman and Robin, which was just awful.

I didn't think two villains could work, but Batman Begins did it fantastially well.
But really, in BB, there was only one "proper" villain, and that was the League of Shadows, Liam Neeson (Ducard, I think his name was.) I know Scarecrow was there, but he didn't have a lot of screentime, and he was dealt with before the end of the movie. He's more of a henchman. The "real" villian that he was working for was Ducard. So really, it was only one villian.
With Spidey 3 it is different. We are talking about 4 major villians. It's almost looks like having too much of a good thing. Hopefully they can pull it of.

Which leads us to " CARNAGE "
Actually, there's really only 3 "main" villains (Sandman, Harry in the Goblin suit, and Venom). Lizard and Mysterio are rumoured to make appearances, but only as quick cameos.
A 7 minute footage reel featuring an aerial battle between Spidey and Harry/Goblin was just released last week in the 'States. And footage of Venom has already hit the web in assorted trailers.
