Is Fos or some other deity sitting in at selection (http://portadelaidefc.com.au/default.asp?pg=news&spg=display&articleid=277170) and/or throwing lightning bolts at training? Consider:
* Bish out for 6 weeks after injury at training on Wednesday. Very sad for a once vital player but I won't revisit his recent form.
* White out, also after injury at training on Wednesday. I don't know for how long but this is an important game against Melbourne and he is still a pretty dodgy player.
* Tredders out as most of us suspected. Look I want him back too but we all knew he would be another week or two before he is able to play well.
* Peter Burgoyne back. Excellent!
* Motlop back. Well even deities slip up. Prove me wrong Mots, prove me wrong.

I'm really surprised we've lost Tredders and White, but Willits still can't get a sniff - not even as an emergency - even with Thurstans going back to Sturt.
Do we have any key forwards left?

Do we have any key forwards left?No Thurstans? I didn't pick up on that. He is an Emergency. But get this - Dean Brogan as Full Forward!!!

Maybe Willits is still injured from the Centrals match
Full team is:
: Michael Wilson, Darryl Wakelin, Brad Symes
HB: Nathan Lonie, Troy Chaplin, Shaun Burgoyne
C: Steven Salopek, Kane Cornes, Jacob Surjan
HF: Stuart Dew, Chad Cornes, Josh Mahoney
F: Peter Burgoyne, Dean Brogan, Brett Ebert
R: Brendon Lade, Dom Cassisi, Danyle Pearce
Int: Daniel Motlop, Michael Pettigrew, Adam Thomson, Elijah Ware
Good to see Elijah still in the side.
Cant see us winning this one though

My money is on Lade and Chaplin playing forward.

Is this shortest day game team we have ever selected ?
ie 5 players down the spine + 1 ruckman > 190 cm

Chad would be more effective up forward than Chappy, I think. So I'd expect Chappy to line up in his regular spot.
I think the move of Broges to full forward is a master stroke. It will definitely fool the Melbourne selectors.
Why do they bother with this nonsense?

MELBOURNE
B: Whelan, Carroll, Holland
HB: Ward, Rivers, C.Johnson
C: Davey, Johnstone, Green
HF: Bruce, Dunn, Pickett
F: Robertson, Neitz, Yze
FOLL: White, McLean, McDonald
I/C: Jamar, Read, Bartram, Sylvia
EMG: Wheatley, Ferguson, Godfrey
IN: McLean
OUT: Bate (hamstring)
That's 8 talls + an emergency compared to our 6 + Thurstans. Surely Thurtans must play. If not and either Lade or Brogan go down we will be stuffed. I know showers are forecast for Melbourne but I don't think we can give away that much height advantage.
I like Cornes at CHF. He has played well there this year especially v Sydney. He has always said he wants to go back to the forward line, so make the most of your chance Chad. Chaplin will get the job on Dunn.

Swapping the rucks at FF? Choco's definitely channelling his old man. But no matter how you cut it - Milde + Marrett > Lade + Brogan :thumbsu:

Dean Brogan as Full Forward!!!
Thats a worry, he couldn't catch at cold atm so he has no hope marking the football.
He is better rucking with his fists but I wouldn't take Lade out of there.

I expect to see Pettigrew spend a lot of time forward this week too. Maybe Choco's going to try Peter Burgoyne at FF this week. Who the hell knows?

He can't kick a goal when it's gift wrapped either!
All that aside I like the way Dean's throwing himself into the action these days. I think his intensity is as good as I've seen it. He's making a few mistakes which is a worry but he's doing more good than harm.

BTW when is Thommo going to get a gig in the starting lineup? He is ripping it up when he's on the ground whereas Symes form has dropped off. It's not quite gold card territory I grant you but there are shades of favouritism here. :(

Symes is better conditioned than Thommo, and frankly a better player :D

He's a good player but I seriously think the Rising Star has set him back in his development. Seems to be resting on his laurels a bit IMO.

I tell you what. When Thommo gets a Rising Star nomination, he can start having full games.

Says Symes in Chinese on the card
Seriously the way things are panning out for this bloke in a few years it's going to take a stick of dynamite to shift him out of the side no matter what his form's like.
