I understand that the AFL have knocked back Freo's deal with Fabian Francis because it could be construed as tampering with the draft. My understanding is that the deal would not tie him to the Dockers next year but they would pick him up if available, a bit of loyalty.

It confuses me with the way the AFL treats clubs, in that they encourage Sydney to get Lockett but can't see anything remotely like draft tampering, plus the Saints get only a slap on the wrist whereas other teams have lost draft picks.

The only way is to win on the field, because we aint gunna win in the boardroom.

A positive slant could be that the AFL is pushing us down because they reckon we can take it, unlike other teams.

Isn't it rather dangerous for the Dockers to commit to Fabian Francis at this stage of the year.

I know it's unlikely to happen, but what if the guy really stacks on the weight over the year. Or he suffers a knee injury. Will you guys still pick him up?

And if you don't, then he'll probably bring out the lawyers won't he?

Maybe, buzz, maybe, but if we don't commit to him now to make up for the earler stuff up, the lawyers will come stumbling in anyways....

It seems that at long last the WAFC are going in to bat for the Dockers on the issue according to the West earlier in the week.It is about time they got off the fat clackers and did something good for WA footy.Fong, Bradshaw and co must undo some of the wrongs the previous commissioners have done and do it quickly.
Scal lawyers stumble in,? I don't think so.They will be rubbing their hands with glee as they see the dollar signs before their eyes.
