Did anyone physically damage a Geelong player?
Full marks to them if they did!
Good on ya Adelaide! :thumbsu:

5. Edwards - in All-Australian form IMO. Dominated the mid-field and used the ball beautifully. Like a good wine just getting better with age.

4. Mattner - just missed out on best by the arse hair of a gnat. :) Enormous desperation, drive run and tackling off the HB line particularly when the going was tough early. Back to his very very best.

3. McLeod - Just to further complicate it, how stiff is Macca not to be rated as the best. Cruised around the HB line and forward like a Rolls Royce and used teh ball faultlessly. If that's how he plays when he's injured, I'd like all our players to be injured. :thumbsu:

2. Burton - the entertainment package. A little bit of everything today from the Birdman capped off by a trademark speccy for good measure. Impossible to match up on.

1. Johncock - could have been anyone really eg Roo, Bassett, or Doughty. But Stiffy's game was near faultless and gave us enormous drive from defence along with Mattner, Macca and Bassett.

Best Team Man

3. Mattner - see above

2. Doughty - has become an essential part of our mid-field, and repeatedly puts his body on the line. Wins his share of the ball. Big improver.

1. Reilly - same comments as Doughty. :thumbsu:

Rookie

2. Porplyzia - bad luck that he got a bruised hip when he was firing on all cylinders. Really looked the goods when he was on and will play many games for the Crows on today's performance.

Maric had a very quiet game today and while he will be good for us in the long-term , no points today. Not quite AFL ready yet.

3: Mattner, if he'd kept it up in the second half would have been 6 votes
2: Macca
1: Roo, wasn't a super game but I can't ignore 5 goals
Apologies to Dogga, Stiffy, Goodwin and Reilly, all could have easily earnt votes in any other game.

2: Porplyzia
1: Maric, very only just. Thought he had done OK (for a young ruckman) until I saw the stats. His snap that someone dedicated a thread to however was very nice and gets a vote.

5. Mattner - fabulous defence and attack in one package, we have the best two wingmen in the league, one plays in defence and the other in attack:D
4. Edwards - great at the start and the end, but there was a little patch that Geelong kept him quiet. Was a tough choice between him and Mattner.
3. Burton - the one man highlight reel was at it again
2. McLeod - loved the boots, he's had the red ones, then there were the blue ones and now yellow ones. Some parents would be very annoyed with him as their kids will want one of each ;) Apart from his boots, his run out of defence was just great to watch
1. Doughty - wanted to put him higher but almost every player had their job and did it well, but dogga's game today was superb.

btm

3. Doughty - his commitment towards the ball, especially after being poleaxed twice and his closing speed to just get the punch in, he is almost at the stage of being elevated from the backbone group.
2. Mattner - as above
1. Edwards - as above

roty
2. 'Needles' had a great game and his marking is text book perfect. Pity about the injury.

Maric worked hard when he was on, Geelong was very concious of his leap and I am amazed that some frees weren't paid towards maric.

5: Edwards - I can only echo what has already been said. Wonderful.
4: Mattner - An absolute freak. CHF next week?
3: Burton - An excitement machine. Adelaide's weekly lucky dip.
2: McLeod - So much drive. Covers more ground than a huge tarp.
1: Doughty - There was a moment on the wing when he got crunched in a contest and immediately rolled over and threw out his mouthguard. He looked f***ed, absolutely good and proper. But after being in the hands of the trainers and Dr. Sando, he got up and immediately won possession in the midfield, handballing to a runner in a play that ended in a goal. Outstanding.

BTM

3: Doughty - See above.
2: Bassett - The new Tyson Edwards. Has been every bit as good as James Clement over the past couple of years but gets no accolades to show for it.
1: Massie - For the five minutes the game was in the balance Kris won a stack of it and really got us moving.

Rookie

2: Porplyzia - Gave Milburn an absolute bath before going off. Made a 10-year veteran look foolish on his way to snagging a couple.

Actually thought his ruckwork wasn't to bad macca & did try to be creative when he had the ball, as you said the more game time Craigy can put in him while he can then all the better for our long term future.

Will Meeson be given an opportunity some time this year ??

That passage of play sent tingles up my spine. I've knocked Dogga in past years, but he's not just been good this year - he's been dead set inspirational the last month or so.

Anyway:

BOG:

5 - Tyson "they still don't talk about me as an All-Australian" Edwards
4 - Marty "look Mum, I brought my own footy" Mattner
3 - Brett "don't do it, don't do it.... oh well done Birdman" Burton
2 - Andrew "hope the new boots are softer under foot" McLeod
1 - Nathan "backing into packs for fun" Bassett

2 - Marty "that's Mr. Mark of the week to you" Mattner

5) Edwards - Class, courage, skill. Just superb all day long
4) Burton - What a game, marks goals runs, the works brilliant.
3) Mattner - Oh boy his first half was totally gobsmacking. I just LOVE IT when he tucks the ball under his arm, puts his head down and charges through the smallest of gaps and accelerates away. He would make the best rugby player.
2) McLeod - Rolls royce, everywhere pure Macca class
1) Doughty - Sensational game yet again from Dogga. He really has improved this year.

5 - Edwards – classy for four quarters. His reading of the play and ball use were spectacular.
4 - Mattner – one of his best games. Took some fine contested marks.
3 - Burton – vintage Birdman. Could have had 7 goals at least.
2 - Doughty – tough as nails and is using the ball well. The incident described by Dyertribe was a perfect example of a guy willing to put everything on the line for the team.
1 - McLeod – he is a joy to watch.
Unlucky – Roo, Johncock, Bassett, Goodwin, Reilly etc. All played well.
Team Man
3 Bode – chased and hassled all day. His smother on the wing was sensational.
2 – Bassett – I would take him over Clement
1 – Doughty – see above
Rookie
2 Porplyzia – great hands, good kick, terrific endeavour. A star of the future.

5 - Tyson Edwards - controlled the midfield - I'd like to see him leave out that last duck and weave that generally gets him into trouble though.

4 - Michael Doughty - ok Craigy.....come clean.....WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE REAL MICHAEL DOUGHTY..... ....

3 - Marty Mattner - Good to see him gaining in confidence - a sign of a very good player when he can turn his season around . The force is strong in that one..

2 - Brett "Forrest" Burton - remember when you used to turn the hose on full pelt in the backyard and it would snake and thrash uncontrollably around the lawn spraying and whacking people indiscriminantly.....and you were never sure which way it would go next????...........just something about the birdman that brings back those memories....:D

5. Mattner-easily BOG in first half when the game was there to be won. I love seeing him attacking the ball like that from defence/wing. The team always seems to play better when he's in that form

4. Edwards-like a good red wine, keeps getting better with age

3. McLeod-classy,doesn't waste a possession, see Edwards above

2. Burton-I remember when Mods was playing and whenever the ball went near him there was expectation in the crowd. The same is happening with Birdman but thankfully all those knockers are nowhere to be heard. Probably one of the most vital cogs in the Crows machine

1. Bassett-a new lease of life since he's had some classy help in the backline

BTM

3. Doughty-I've always been a fan of his. Had a setback when he tried to have a closer look at Farmer's knee and dented his confidence for a year but now one of the most courageous players in the team

2. Stevens-I cannot believe no-one has commented on his match. Kept Mooney to 7 possessions.

1. Biglands-Wonderful performamce against King and Ottens

ROOKIE

2. Porplyzia-Superlative 2nd quarter.

Apologies to rest of the team as really that's what the Crows produce now- a superlative TEAM effort
