Great Player.

I just get the feeling that he needs to get rid of the ball as a first option. The give to Goody who goaled against the Cats is a good example

You cannot fault his endeavour in tackling and getting the ball but it appears to me he either tries to break the tackle or is wrapped up pretty quickly after taking possession.

Can anyone else see this?

...anyway its good to see him stringing some games together

I know he has been good in many ways -but will his inaccuracy for goal cost us a final. I hope not, but he misses far too many shots for goal IMHO.

I think Bode's pretty good at getting rid of the ball by hand (the one to Goodwin being a case in point).

By foot, once he decides what he's going to do with the footy (have a shot, pass it off, he seems to need to take an extra step or even 2 more than most players before he's balanced enough to kick it. If you watch him when he's about to kick, he drops his eyes back to the ball, and seems to have a slow release. What that means is that by the time his foot connects, he's either telegraphed the pass more than necessary (giving a defender time to close down the player he's kicking to), or he's actually not in the position he thinks he is relative to the goal posts, meaning he's more likely to kick a behind than he should.

He's not on his own there to many players miss easy shots at goal in every team

i know -Kenny, Pez, Birdman, Skippy, and Reilly and even Macca on the run miss too many shots for my liking when the goals have to be kicked.

Love Matty Bode. Has a few flaws but brings something to the team that no one else does. His in-and-under work in the forward line, his ability to keep the ball in the area and his infectious spirit are crucial ingredients.

Has a crack when the heat is on too. The St Kilda final is a perfect example of why we need Bode in there. He won't go back into his shell when the stakes are high.

His goal sense and crumbing ability haven't been as good as I thought they'd be this season. I thought he'd be able to kick 30-35 goals in a season as a foil for the big men. Not sure how many he's on. Hope we persevere with him though.
