Sorry if this has been done already, but who is everyones picks on #1 in the Hottest 100 this Saturday??

I think it will be Alex Lloyd - Amazing. Only cause it is really well known and played on every radio station in the country!

I hope Alien Shyte Farm doesn't win because those blokes are a bunch of tools!!

I want Gerling or Eskimo Joe to win because their music rocks!!!

Your Picks?????

Basement Jaxx - Where's your head at
Jebediah - Fall Down
Something for Kate - Monsters

Alex Lloyd probably will win.

Silverchair's newie may rate pretty highly as well.

No doubt the song with the most uncomplicated riff

Ahem...if Powderfinger have released anything (which they have) they will win. My Happiness is the obvious choice. Alien Ant Farm is the sort of crap that is an outside chance.

I won't be expressing any happiness if it does win, but I take the placings with a grain of salt and just listen to hear the body of songs (good & bad) that has graced our youth network over the course of the year.

I'd like to see NOT FROM THERE's Frisco Disco or GARBAGE's Cherry Lips, but I doubt either will even make the Top 100.

My pick is AAF. Unfortunately.

AAF may make #1 on the countdown, yet not be on the CD.

Happened with Offspring ("Pretty Fly..") couple of years ago....

Cheers

I think Something for kate will win. Wasn't the album voted #1, or am I thinking of something else?

SFK was voted as album of the year. Their problem is that they had three good songs, which will rob votes off each other (Monsters, Three Dimensions, 20 Years) while others like AAF and System Of A Down have had one hit of the year.

I think Monsters would be a worthy winner, and as you read before, my tip.

I'd like to see The Strokes, Ryan Adams, the Dave matthews band, Ash and John Butler Trio poll well. Always had a soft spot for Eskimo Joe, and Amazing has has special meaning since the first time I heard it. Even now that it's oh so commercialised and overplayed, it still gets me every time...

Fully expect AAF to 'win', and SFK, silverchair, 28 days, Gorillaz, unwritten law, living end, U2, New Order and the usual 'angry teen' favourites (Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Tool and the like) to do well.... Great for some, dissapointing for others....

Anyway, I love Hottest 100 day whoever ends up winning, just for all the memories it brings back from the year just past :)

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa! Back up there Maude. :p

Tool, I repeat, Tool should never, ever be even in the same sentence as Stinkin' Park (like that one?;)) or Limp Bizkit.

Tool are technically one of the best bands going around, and are considered geniuses amongst their peers.

A song with a good chance of going #1 because of it's air play is "Rocking the Suburbs" by Ben Folds. Even though he has made hundreds of better songs than this, this one is the most catchy and will poll well.

The same goes for "Short Skirt, Long Jacket" by Cake.

Personnally, I'd like to see anything by The Strokes, The White Stripes, or Eskimo Joe finish on top.

Hitman summed it up perfectly. Tool have credibility, and aren't in the Linkinbizkit mold at all.

Tool are a band that are almost impossible to compare with anyone musically. I suppose, if anything, their diverse and experimental nature (not necessarily their sound, though) sees them as the Pink Floyd of 90s alternative/metal.

You can listen to some at my house. ;)

Anyone going to a hottest 100 BBQ today? I will be going to one in about an hour. I must say that so far there have been quite a few Aussie bands in the countdown, though I guess that is pretty much expected.

I'm having my very own Jim. Just had lunch, and there has been lots of Aussie music so far. Might get some cricket going soon, just to get the perfect scene going.

Unwritten Law just came on. Happy with that. ;)

Overall, I'm pretty happy with the list :) Heaps of Aussie stuff...... but are they replaying it on Monday? I missed half of it today :( (bloody customers.... ;))

They might be in the same list, but that doesn't mean they are similar bands.

After all, Alex Lloyd, Powderfinger, Tonedeaf For Kate, The Strokes, Gorillaz, etc all made that list too - hardly comparable to Linkinbizkit and all the other "angry teen" -type music. :)
