with Marc Murphy being injured this could be a chance to give him a different role at the club. The type of role that a captain might perform.

We're all itching to see a Rookie promoted and Denis has said that they are close but haven't done enough just yet. I saw that we make Murphy part of the process with the following responsibilities;

-work with the Rookies to help them understand what's required at AFl level
-help them to understand the gaps that they need to fill to be at that level
-advise Denis on the progress of each Rookie
-recommend when and which Rookie(s) should be promoted
-work with said Rookie(s) to prepare for thier first game
-primary responsibility for ensuring said Rookie(s) continue to get a game each week

Could be an interesting task for him and from what we have seen he would be up to the challenge.

I dont think so...he is too young to be given such a job, and we have coaches to do these things. Murph can remain a leader on the field, and i'm sure that eventually he will show enough leaderhsip on and off the field to perform such tasks.

Agree with Jeremias here. Just let the kid play footy. I'm sure he'll be doing this sort of stuff in a few years anyway.

Yeah, as evidence in the past and present, the young players who are given too much responsibility cant handle it and get distracted.

There are many older, wiser, more experienced players and coaches at the club who can do the same thing

Can't have a rookie being instructed and mentored by an 18 year old regardless of how good he is and will be. He is learning his craft and hasn't earned his teammates undivided attention just yet.

oi as010 what is going through your head seriously buddy, is there a brain in there. Marc Murphy whilst his performance this year has to be congradulated he is in no position to perform a role with anywhere near these responsibilities, he is 18 for f u c ks sake, what will you want him to do next run for the prime minister in the next election, obviously you have no understanding for the game of football and for that reason i am imposing a suspension on you from posting on the big footy website for 4 weeks. After that time you can private message me and explain to me as to why you should be premitted to post again and i will decide then on the back of your explanation if you should be able to post again.

Now if anybody was going to be suspended for four weeks, it wouldn't be as010.

Despite what's been said and compltely disregarding the idiot west coast eagle (aka Nutcracker) view, I still think this is a goer and would be good for Marc and the rookies.
