From cricket.com.au

England's mediocre Test form has seen it fall to third in the ICC's Test Championship table.

Pakistan moved above England after victories against England, India and Sri Lanka and will move within three points of Australia if it can take a clean sweep in its upcoming four-match series against England.

However, England can regain second place from Pakistan if it wins the series.

Since taking the Ashes off the Australians last year, England has suffered a series loss to Pakistan and drawn with India and Sri Lanka.

The new table, which no longer takes into account series completed before August 2003, means that Pakistan's losses to Australia (0-3) and South Africa (0-2) no longer feature in the calculations.

Better get it in gear against Pakistan- maybe they could slide to fourth? "Mediocre" seems a kind adjective....

So wait, are they using a new system or does the current system only take into account the past 3 years or so and now those Pakistan results have fallen out?

Hell, not even a year yet... 10 months right now.

But that aint the point of the thread- we're talking ICC rankings, and England have not performed well EITHER home or away since earning their Ashes victory- hence, their ranking has fallen, and perhaps could fall more in the next six weeks.

And by the way, Australia does continue to be the best team in the world. But y'all KNOW that anyway.
