Today should be called New Zealand Day at 36 overs we're 7/135. Shane Warne, time to perform a miracle!

It's been a few years since Australia have been as insipid in a one-dayer as they were tonight.

Mark Waugh will get all the attention after his latest failure but he isn't alone in the Aussie side who is struggling.

I've given Ian Harvey a fair bagging on this forum but I have to admit that I've overrated his alternative, Andrew Symonds, who's looked out of his depth with the bat. If I was Chris Harris (or any slow bowler), I'd be lining up to bowl to him.

And it's pretty obvious that Symonds' teammates don't have much faith in his batting either, as can be evidenced by Bevan's batting once Waugh was dismissed.

Some of the other Aust players had brain fades, like Damien Martyn. To get sucked in after being dropped two balls before was a rare lapse from him.

But once again, full marks to New Zealand and their captain Fleming, who are showing sides like South Africa how to play against Australia. I wonder what the odds would've been of a slip being there when Steve Waugh nicked Vettori if Shaun Pollock was captain.

I've criticised Michael Bevan in this forum on numerous occasions and I'm about to start it again.

When we need one of your great innings to guide us to victory, what do you do.... get caught trying to put the bowler out of the ground. If he's the best one-day batsman in the world then cricket is in bad shape.

As for Symonds, how has he been chosen ahead of Harvey for the past 3 matches? Can't bat, can't bowl, but apparently could field, well after dropping an absolute sitter off Cairns, I don't think he can field either.

Mark Waugh, he made a scrappy 50 the other day. That has saved his arse for the next 6 months.

As for captaincy, Steve Waugh, you were shown up big time by Stephen Fleming. Perhaps you should forget snide little comments about potentially seriously injured players and focus on your game and your captaincy.
