I thought today was terrible - a 2 or 3 out of 10. I've given a 3 just because we got over the line. I shouldn't though, Port were undermanned going in and lost Brogan early. We let them play their game plan without playing any direct footy. We always look at our best playing direct footy, with or without key forwards in form - I think we have two of the best five small forwards in the competition at their feet. Clearly, our best 15 minutes of the game were in the last where we kicked it long and went up the guts. Either Thompson has no idea, or the players aren't listening to him.

It was a tough contest - therefore mistakes will be made. It happens in many games.
We were challenged today by a side in a similar position, and we stood up.

4 from me. Forward 50 entries again were horrible, we did the same against Adelaide and got crusified by them but Port were too undermanned to take any major advantage of it. If we want to play a fast paced style we need more players around HF because all we did was kick it to Port and they would rebound. In fact we played a lot like we did against Adelaide today except for the last 15 mins.

Anything less than a 5 is a loss. We won so I give us a 6 because that was as close to a loss as you can get but getting away with a win.

Why is anything less than 5 a loss? I reckon we were about a 5 last week in a 10 goal win, and this week was much worse.

Well, if you're going to rate a game out of ten (which is a pretty random way to rate a game), 5 would be a draw and anything less is a loss and anything more is a win. Simple maths.

I'm rating performance. 5 therefore would be par, anything less would be below expectations and anything more would be above expectations.
That was much worse than I was expecting, although I'm not sure why. We have dealt up pathetic performances like that in most games this year.

Yep, that's fair enough. You've got to take into account how the opposition played though and I though Port played better than I expected.
Don't be too worried with how we played. It's important to win matches where you don't play too well. We haven't done that in a while.

Agreed - the one positive I took from it is that we have won our first 'close' game for the year (in our 15th game).

Too harsh. Not enough credit being given to the Power.

The first half got a 1 from me for trying. Thank goodness something sparked and the cats got the win. I gave them a very generous 5. I think 4 of that 5 score is due to lil Stokesy.
I gave it a 5. One reason is that the Power are well coached and have got a lot of young kids who collectively were good on the day. Yes, we struggled for most of the day but finally we won a close game..the very type of match we have been dropping all year.
We've found something but still need to find more.
STOKESY
Just thought I'd add that :)
