Going by the current ladder,
1. Essendon - Scott Gumbleton
2. Carlton - Bryce Gibbs
3. Hawthorn - Lachlan Hansen
I'd kill to get Hansen at the club! :p
It's all up to Essendon. Assuming they don't pick one of Gibbs or Hansen with pick one (which is still possible), i'd be stoked to get one of Hansen or Thorp down at Waverley. :thumbsu:

Best case scenario for Port would be for Gumbleton to get his dad to send a letter* to all clubs saying that he only will play for Port in the AFL.
Another cynical best case would be for the Roos and Hawks to start winning games.
*If you get your dad to do it, its not draft tampering - see Jarrad Schofield, 2004 PSD

Phil, don't think you will be too far off the mark there.
Phil I would take any of the three Thorp,Hansen or Gumby it would just about be the cream on the Hawthorn cake. How many wins would stop us from getting one of these guys.We still have to play Bris,Blues,Dons and the Roos and if we play with the same endevour as the last couple of weeks we could win all of these games. I want to win BUT I want one of the KPP guns!:thumbsu:

Pick 1 - pick 16: Carlton
If Tom Hawkins dad played enough games to have his first born male son be eligable to be selected with a third round pick for the cats would be best case scenario.

kangaroos to give us more draft picks for another one of our spuds. :p
seriously, as long as we go KP will our first pick, we cant really go wrong.:thumbsu:

I doubt it, If the blues lose Gumbleton will be wearing Red and Black next year maybe even if the dons lose. Sheeds is real keen

I'am disagree is Gibbs is available to the Blues they will snap, but if the dons pick him then Hansen is a lock in blue

Spot on. I'm not doubting how much you'd love Hansen HBF, but if it comes down to Gibbs vs Hansen for Carlton, you guys will go with Gibbs. ;)

Absolutely correct. I still think the Bombers will take Gibbs with pick 1, leaving Hansen for us. If not, would be just as happy with Gibbs.

I'm becoming increasingly certain (as I have been for a long time), that Essendon will take Gumbleton.
He's too good to pass up.
Best case scenario for Collingwood.
We keep losing and get pick 8. Joel Selwood slips down to 8 because he didn't play in the National Championships and has been forgotten about by everyone.

I agree and would be very happy with either of these selections. There is something about Gibbs that really appeals to me at Carlton. Coupled with Murphy and Co, this could be a formula for success.

Best case scenario?
All other clubs inexplicably are unable to find Lachlan Hansen's draft number, and fail to recognise this mistake until after Collingwood have already picked him up.

Change Collingwood to the Bulldogs and I like your thinking! Best player in the TAC.

Nice one Vinnie.
I'll be sure to email Wayne Hughes his number a week or so before the draft, just in case he can't find it. ;)

Best case scenario?
All other clubs inexplicably are unable to find Lachlan Hansen's draft number, and fail to recognise this mistake until after Collingwood have already picked him up.
And why do the numbers assigned to each player in the Draft have so many digits; seemed like it was five or six last year.
Surely there are not that many players in the Draft?

OMG, I think I'm starting to sway. I can't believe it!! If Essendon take Gumby, we take Gibbs, this gives us a midfield on Murphy, Gibbs, Simpson, Blackwell, Bentick. Not too bad.
We still need defenders, so the club would have to be confident both Hartlett and Bower can stand up in defence.
I still can't believe I actually wrote that.

One of: Gumby/Hansen/Throp.
Won't happen.

Richmond - 8 wins
Por - 6 wins

Carlton- Hansen

As you can see, i dont think gumbleton will go top 2 but will go 3 no matter what team. the top 2 are pretty much decided already IMO.

Joel Selwood @ Richmond, would make me a very happy camper.
Deledio/Selwood/Tambling midfeild for the next 15 years would give me large amounts of joy.

I would be ecstatic if the Hawks got any one of Gumbleton, Hansen or Gibbs.
However, I have a feeling we are likely to win a few games before the end of the year so could finish above the Kangaroos and maybe even Port Adelaide.
If that happens, Kangas will take the remaining of the top 3, Port is likely to pick up Sellar, so we will probably pick Thorp either way. If Port go for Thorp, we will take Sellar. Can't see us opting for Selwood because we are well stocked in the in-and-under brigade. The other possibility if the A-grade talls are out-of-stock is that we will take one of Jetta, Proud or Collard - we need mercurial running players with great goal sense.

The Best Case Scenario For Carlton
The Ghost of Christmas visits Demitriou sometime during the night, he then realizes the error of his ways and arrives at Princess Park one morning and says:
"sorry for stealing Goddard, Wells and Brock McLean from you, as well as fining you $1,000,000"
"Here take Gibbs AND Hansen as a token of our appreciation for all you've given the game in your proud clubs history, and to show that we are truley sorry for our over-the-top punishment against an administration that was no longer at the club"

Surely there are not that many players in the Draft?
Any player who plays a game in an eligible competition is assigned a draft number, so every player who laces up the boots in a VFL, TAC Cup, WAFL, WAFL Colts, SANFL or QAFL (as well as a few other regional leagues) game is pretty much eligible for the draft.
This is how some kid name Luke Franklin was momentarily Hawthorn's #5 pick in the 2004 draft.
