NT captain, tall HBF/Midfielder, good in close, slight kicking deficiency (Usually combatted by going long), B+F winner for Darwin (at senior level) last season. Wat do people think his draft propects are. Id say 3rd to 5th round.

The big issue is the kicking.I compare him to James Frawley where he he has so many positives other than his kicking that he will be drafted but it would only be down the order.

Wrote this a while back... slight wrong but had a crack..
Joseph Anderson (Darwin)
top-age right foot (one-sided) HBF/Midfield/Utility
*STYLE LIKE: Nathan Basset (Badly compared)
*PROBABILITY OF AFL CAREER: Query. Ready year 2/3.
*HURT FACTORS (Offensive/Defensive/Negative): M / M / M
*TRADEMARK:
- Provide the strong spoil, either mop up by himself and give the hands to teammate or receive the handball from teammate and drive the ball long into attack.
*SUMMARY ASSESSMENT, RECOMMENDATION:
- Strong tackling, hard at it, aboriginal midfielder/Backman. Could turn into anything, has a big leap and is strong overhead, kicking lacks nothing of penetration but misses targets occasionally. Could provide a club with an excellent defensive midfield option or back flanker who could take third tall. Has plenty of mongrel but kicking tends to be too iffy, too often for my liking.
His hurt factor can be very good at times, but kicking needs to be more accurate. One incident I will bring up is when it was the dying minutes of a final against Wanderers? The match was very close and every move was vital, Joey was playing on half back. A Nightcliff player kicked the ball into their forward line, Joey ran hard at the ball, took a strong grab and hit the ground running and sent it into Darwin’s attack. This play would have been perfect if the kick hit target.
- Has been playing with big bodied men for a year or so, this would be put to his advantage.
- The best position for Joe at this stage is on half back but I would think he could develop into a tagging midfielder in time.
- ‘Go home’ factor wouldn’t be a problem.
*DISPOSAL:
- Can be unreliable at times, by hand or foot. He has a thumping kick on him, can kick over 50 metres from set shots. Handballs too regularly don’t go where they are intended to go to, but can produce some fluke handballs in tight.
- Very, very one sided, does not use his left foot, and when he does it is slammed straight onto the boot.
- Great penetration.
- His kicking style is a bit different, he tends to let the ball go a little bit too early, this sometimes makes you wonder where the kick is going to go, generally it hits a target.
- Not a noted goal-kicker.
*DECISION-MAKING, SMARTS:
- decision making needs improvement, can choose the option that is more under pressure at times.
- He puts himself in the right place in contested situations and spoils very well.
- He isn’t a huge clearance player, but this is not because he doesn’t put himself in the right position etc. It is because he is generally close checking someone when he plays midfield.
- Has good pace for his size and evasive skills, doesn’t mind running the lines.
- NEEDS to learn to use that left foot.
*MARKING:
- Can be a mixed bag at times, but is generally quite strong.
- In packs he can be a little bit too much of a two grab mark.
*ATHLETICISM:
- Great pace for his size and has a huge engine. Can run on ball for an entire match in NTFL.
- Has reasonable reflexes.
- Big leap.
*INTENSITY, ETHIC:
- Very tough and rough with his tackling, throws around men in NTFL, has aggression and doesn’t mind a skirmish, can niggle opponents and is very accountable.
- Strong leadership.
*CONSISTENCY:
- It is hard to be consistent when you’re a 17 year old playing against men but his consistency is usually very good.
- Can stand up in big games and if he didn’t go off late in the third quarter in the NTFL Grand final he would have come close to getting BOG for his run with effort on Heath Culpitt.
*AFL VERSATILITY:
- All boxes can be ticked here, can play backline as a flanker and if he keeps growing, might be able to play as an undersized CHB. Can play midfield as a tagger or pinch hit as a marking forward.
*SCOPE FOR IMPROVEMENT:
- His kicking certainly has room for improvement on both his right and left feet. Marking will gradually get better with confidence.
*QUERY:
- Kicking accuracy
- Decision making
*OTHER STUFF:
- 05/06 NTFL rising star award.

Good summation PAFC.
I'd probably say he was more like a Jason Gram type player than Nathan Bassett.
From what a saw of him, his hands in close looked very good.
But other than that I agree with what you said. :)
Hope this kid gets his chance, he deserves it with how hard he works on his game. Especially on that kicking.
