Like it or not, this bloke is the 'X factor'.
Could single handedly win us a final one day...

Almost made me throw up when he got THAT goal. Yeah you all know the one I'm talking about... right from the boundary on an impossible angle. I just don't like how he does these super things and then does totally crap things! Then he gets all the credit. grrrrrrrrr I'm glad he kicked that goal but I just don't like him much atm. Probably got something to do with me thinking that he didn't deserve a spot in the side this week and Prizza shoulda been in.
Anyway SJ is such a showpony! He has some x factor in him obvously BUT his crap disposals and dodgy decision making put the X factor back down to a Y factor (or something lower, you know what I mean... right?)
That was not touched, and KICK IT UP STUPID!
what would he be worth on the trade table? and who would be interested?

Noooooo SJ is staying at Geelong. He thinks he's Daicos, sure (and he isn't), but kicks goals when we need them. Took some great contested marks today too. Would have lost without him today.

He’s one of the only blokes with a bit of unpredictability in the forward line. We can’t afford to lose him.

Could also single handedly cost us one...
Talented as he is, I'm yet to be convinced that I want him in the team on a regular basis. Still too much risk associated with him IMO.

When SJ plays like that, you know why Bomber needs him and wants him in the squad. Great game, sure he missed some things, but some of his 'contested' marks were fantastic. The one hander flying over two wrestling players was a highlight.
He is there to kick the miraculous goals, that's why we picked him up in the draft.

the special things aint that special...potential for his malfunctions to be just as spectacular. dunno.

I reckon give him one more year on the list. He should be sat down and told that 07 is his last year to show consistency or he's gone. Hopefully he'll get lucky and be physically right for at least half the season.
Hell how long have we persevered with Gardiner and McCarthy.

If we are to win a flag in the near future, he will be part of the 22.

Some say he lost us the Semi last year. TAKE IT OVER THE LINE!!!

I could understand what he was doing there, though. He would have been pinged for deliberate.
Some of you need to get into the room full of mirrors and take a good hard look at yourselves. Give him one more year, what's he worth on the trade table? What the hell is going on with you. Dog played a major part in our victory on Sunday, not just through his two great goals either. As posted earlier, some of his contested marking through the middle was superb and he set up attacking moves with his creativity.
Johnno will be a cat for a long time because Bomber loves him and because we need him. Don't forget, he's a flanker, not a KPP but he takes a good defender and he's very hard to match up on. Is good on the ground, good in the air and just possesses that something that a lot of blokes don't.
I know there's the old cliche' of taking it one week at a time but this forum seems to want to trade players one week at a time.
I would think that it would be a fair assessment to say that with the exception of Ablett, Scarlett, Chappy, Corey, Dasher & Bartel nearly every other player has had their tradablility questioned.
Lets be serious for a minute, we have never really traded heavily with the possible exception of Otto. We won't be parting with our first round pick, especially not for Aker and Kel, Dog & co won't be traded coz they are AFL players. The first round is going to be pretty darn good this year but that doesn't mean that the second round is going to be as good as previous years first rounds. Players of the calabour of Gardner, Lonergan, Koula etc won't command second or third round picks. If required, they will be delisted, end of story. They will be offered around but lets face it, Fev and Lance struggled to raise too much interest last year so don't get your hopes up of having a plethora of mid range picks come December. It's nice to dream but sometimes you need to keep your feet on the ground!!

Rosso, I generally agree. I'm fairly sick of logging on here and finding the next candidate for trade who just weeks ago was winning us games or in just a few weeks time could be doing so again.
The only names that haven't come up as trade suggestions would be Bartel, Corey, the Abletts, Scarlett, Chappy and Milburn.
On the other hand, if a club offered us a first round pick for Johnno, we should take it and run like we stole something. His ankles are stuffed so he's never going to be fully fit because he'll never be able to put in a full pre season. That means, at best, we're hoping for about 18 games out of him a year. That's not really enough. I wouldn't shop him around because I think he's a special talent but if the offer was on the table...
thats the thing mate..hes got the xfactor but hes inconsistent and he comes with alot of injuries. all im saying is if we got a top 20 pick for him id take it....good chance collard would still b there
your sick of trade talk well thats fine i guess our list cant get anybetter.....can it now
oh and johno is no all australian so yeh hes tradable as far as im concernd if theres a decent bid we should take it...dont get me wrong hes tallented and hes a required player thats why he has value and players like koola and c.gardiner dont;)

Are you talking to me McFly?
Yeah, sick of just about every player on our list being mentioned as trade bait. It's unrealistic. Maybe half a dozen names will come up in trade talk for us at the end of the year, yet just about our entire list has been mentioned on this board as if we need to get rid of the lot.
And if you are talking to me, re-read my post. In particular:
if a club offered us a first round pick for Johnno, we should take it and run like we stole something

The same amount of time - they all came in the 2001 draft, all three of them. Gardiner and McCarthy are history though.

I don't think anyone said that - the general consensus seemed to be that he would have to turn out a few more performances like that (and no-one would call it a 'saviour' performance) if he was going to avoid the axe at years end. His last two games have been disappointing, to say the least - the game against Port in particular was a shocker. He's pretty much blown it.

Right on Rosso. Can any of SJ's knockers name half-forward flankers from other teams that they'd rather have?
I've said it in other threads - he kept us in the game on Sunday with two goals in the first half, and did a lot of good in-close work in the second half, despite the two shocking kicks for goal.

I am not a knocker but I heard scottydeewah has been playing alright for the boston demons. Moved from the forward flank to the centre last weekend and DOMINATED the third quarter. Eats more pies (when i can get my hands on them) than big Lance and has been known to love a beer. Trade SJ and our first round pick for him...
