Jason Laycock has had complications since he underwent surgery on his injured knee, and Essendon fitness coach John Quinn told Bomber Radio that further surgery may be required which would end the 2005 NAB Rising Star nominee's season. (Afl)

I also heard he's also having his shoulder done as well!

I heard he was having his shoulder done, if he is then it'd make sense to fix the knee up while they're at it.

Oh well, better things get patched up now, so he'll be ready to go come preseason. Looking forward to seeing something from him.

Laycock is becoming a liablity, unfortunately all these injuries will stop a decent trade for him.

Absolutely. And all of this at 21! Can't see him turning into a powerhouse ruckman anytime soon BUT every pre-season is a new story. I think we can carry him, hell the NBA would slap titanium into every joint if they could keep an athletic 200cm player operating.

Why would we trade him when Ryder's not ready?
There's a good chance he'll be ready to go by pre-season

When he plays- what exactly is his role; assistant to Hille in the ruck, key position up forward ? Has played 20 odd games in 4 years and maybe a goal a game and doesn't have much idea in the ruck, and is injured most of the time. Persist with another Henneman in the making, or strike a deal for a second round pick in alleged dream draft.

It's both, back up Hille and spend time down forward, and he does both well.
