There is a story going around NSW that Michael Slater is headed down to Victoria to play his cricket. Apparently, he wont even play for his club side this week and has spat the dummy big time after being dropped from the NSW State side. Apparently, there's an article in the Sydney Telegraph paper about it.

Thanks to my Dad, (who lives in Sydney) for telling me the story. :):)

What does everyone think about Matthew Elliott & Michael Slater opening the batting for Victoria next season?

maaad!!!!

Doubt it will happen though. I heard slats was just taking a week or so off to get his head right and spend some time with his gf.

Why would you be getting excited? You Victorians really have no clue do you?

At least we know that you'll be '1-for-not many', every innings now.:D

I was actually thinking about this when Slater was dropped from the NSW team.

Victoria have been trying to get Ryan Campbell from WA for a while now. Even though Arnberger and Elliott are a pretty solid opening combination, the top order needs a big boost, and Slater would be a handy addition, and a change of environment could assist in reviving some good form.

Slater would bring some experience with him, which may be helpful in bringing up youngsters like Klinger, Moss, McDonald, White, etc.

Guess who started the rumour ?
Dean bloody Jones. [can we deport him to NZ ?]

The vics won't go for Slater.Slater's career is going downhill faster than a skier at the Winter Olympics.

I think he might retire.

It would be great news if indeed it is true but each year we tend to get a rumour about a new signing to open with Matty Elliott.

It's akin to the annual Collingwood rumours that half the league is headed to Victoria Park. Spider Everitt anyone? :D

Last year the man in question was Ryan Campbell, the year before it was Jimmy Maher

One other thing to consider is that if Slats moved down to Victoria his international career would certainly be over, you'd have to be Don Bradman to get a game for Australia if you don't represent NSW.

I hope like hell it is true but in the meantime i shall take it with a grain of salt.

The people excited about this are the same people who think that Corey McKernan is going to be a revelation at Carlton!

Who else would be in the lineup for the "I can't get a game for Australia"?

Just what the vics need - a moody bastard at one end and a psychopath at the other:p

You seriously wouldn't want Slater at the moment. His head is all over the place.

NSW might have stuck with him for a bit longer except he hasn't been showing up at training, spitting the dummy all the time from what I hear.
