When asked whether he would play on in 2007, Clarke said, “You never know”.
This is the worst possible news, because if this ailing ruckman stays on for yet another season, what hope is there to develop young stars Maric and Meeen? And even worse, would Meesen even bother to stay if he’s 5th on the list?
Surely this can't be happening... :o

I read a few suggestions on here that he's close to signing ... but haven't heard or seen anything about it in the press. Pretty certain he hasn't signed yet, though.

I heard during the sport news last week I think. Hopefully we will know soon.

Clarke won't play on next year....
It will be hard enough delisting enough players already, if he doesn't want to go, he might get a "nudge"
He might play SANFL next year, but he won't be in crows colours! I thought the only reason he played on this year, was due to Huddo's knee.....

He said "In all honesty this is probally my last season, but uou never know"
Not a chance he'll play on next year.

I think you will find it is Clarkey's quirky sense of humour (he joked about it earlier in the season). I doubt Matty will continue in 2007.

Yeh he is a funny bloke, from memory didnt he say something like 4-5 years when questioned by reporters. :D

only you can answer this, but when you say semi-reliable sources - are they someone who could reasonably be expected to know?

What? Scared that your wonder kid Meesen would never be able to displace Clarke for a spot in the team?
That means either of two things... Clarke is alot better than you give him credit for, or Meesen is alot worse than you build him up to be. Which is it?

Yes (its not a case of my mates milkmens, 2nd cousins ex wife's step son :D )
but to be honest I wouldn't be betting my house on it

I posted this a couple of weeks ago .... but a mate of mine who keeps his ear to the ground at Norwood said Meesen wasn't too happy with things and he wouldn't have been surprised to see him head home. That was a few weeks ago ... and haven't spoken to him since.
