We have finals to think about. I doubt the club will be putting anybody on the market until the season's over. Not officially, anyway!!!

And how many times have you seen it, that she in the end, she has to retract so many of her predictions

Not only predictions Murray but lies and has no code of ethics. Time will tell if she learns, she is in the footy world already a difficult arena for a woman to be respected in. My prediction, is in the future there will not be many footballers who would want to be interviewed by her and footy colleagues will view her as unconstructive and very damaging to the sport.

I doubt Caro made this up. Whether her source was a good one and whether she was so eager for a Collingwood story with some needle that she wet herself before getting her facts straight is another matter. That I can easily imagine. Actually, I need to see a shrink…

As for the substance of it all who knows really. As Timmy said, we are looking at finals so timing is an issue but if there is substance in this it would be that a decision has been made that he will be sold for the right price due to trouble off field and underperformance on it at the appropriate time. These decisions do get made during a season and they also get reversed if the player fires. Maybe this is what happened and someone leaked it? If so there will be hell to pay and Eddie would already be in a foul mood to begin with.

Maybe there was a deliberate leak to shake the bloke up a bit. God knows he could use it. Maybe the club want Tarrant to feel like he has used all his lives and his career hinges on his attitude. It worked for Carlton with Fevola last year. Maybe the club used Caro. Now that would be amusing in a mildly sadistic sort of way.

Really, why wouldn’t Tarrant be on the market? He takes a lot of marks but he can’t kick for goal. He is a good player and very good when he is on song but he is far from a great player. He is mentally weak. He does sell a lot of jumpers though. I am not really fussed either way. If we trade him and get a good price well and good. If not then fine. He won’t ever be a number 1 forward - he doesn’t have the game or the heart for that but he can be a devastating 2nd or 3rd forward and he can be a nightmare match-up for a stretched backline. He’s the sort of player that can greatly enhance a good sides premiership chances but when given the chance he has failed to deliver in 2 grand finals. One with Rocco on song and one as the only viable forward option.

Chris Tarrant is the one who never learns. The rumours may be true or they may be false, but the fact they exist in the first place is due to Chris Tarrant alone, not Caroline Wilson. If he wast such a loose cannon in the first place, Caro would have nothing to talk about.

if the price is right, trade him! there are only a handful of players on our list that will never be traded (unless they **** up etc). Tarrant is not one of them. If we can get a quality tall defender, ruckmen, mid or top 10 pick i would trade! get over yourself TAZ

Alastair Clarkson has already mentioned that the Hawks would seriously look at Tazz (Amongst others eg, Akka) if he was to become available during trade week. I can't help but feel that they will go all out (within reason) to get Tazz down to Glenferrie.
I think he can be a great player when he is on song but his bad is also very bad. Baring this in mind I think that his trade value may not be as high as some Pies supporters would imagine.
In the strongest draft since the Hodge, Judd season I think that Tazz would only attract a high second round pick plus a regular senior selected player from Hawthorn (and forget Hodge, Mitchell, Croad, Williams, Jacobs, Roughead, Franklin, Lewis, Ellis, Dowler).
I can imagine something like this happening:

Everett to Swans for their 1st round pick
Hawthorns 2nd pick (from Sydney) or their 2nd round pick (21ish) and say a Joel Smith, Rick Ladson, Luke Brennan, Ben Kane type of player for Tarrant.
This then gives Collingwood a first round draft pick and a player for Tazz.

Then they could do something like Trade Tarrant and your first pick for our first pick (top 3 or 4) and one of the players mentioned above.

Tarrant is loved by all (or most) at Collingwood but has only harmed his reputation and trade value this season due to well documented reasons.
After considering this would you agree that Tazz could be traded in any of the scenarios above?

My opinion is that Tarrant will be traded under the proviso that the deal is excellent for Collingwood , otherwise he will play for us in 07 as he is contracted to do so.
Tarrant could be traded in scenarios presented , but he won't be , as trade week doesn't work like that , it is far more exciting on the internet than reality.

A 1st rnd pick for Tazz = 2 1st rnd picks in super draft = excellent for Collingwood.

I agree, if clubs want him they will have to pay above and beyond what everyone else would consider a fair deal. we wont move backwards in the trade.

Everett to Swans for their 1st round pick

Why would we give away Tarrant and our first pick, likely to be lower than sydneys i would presume, for a worse first rounder, and a player that wouldnt add to our side?

If the Hawks were serious about getting Tarrant to glenferrie, they would offer their first round pick straight up, likely to be a top 5 pick, but unlikely to net either of the top 3 KPPs in the draft. If duds like Thompson and Hay can get 2 first round picks in average drafts, then tarrant is atleast worth a first round pick in a better than average draft.

Not that i think we will trade Taz

Mate you offloaded two underperformed key position players in Hay and Thompson who were both much crapper players at the time than Tarrant is now for much higher prices.

Hay for pick 18 in an ordinary but deep draft.
Thompson for #10 and #26 in a fair draft.

Tarrant at the very least is worth a top 15 pick.

So in summary you think Tarrant is worth a second round pick plus Joel Smith. You shouldnt have wasted your time typing crap like that.

i hate ppl that arent realistic! how can you say everitt for a first round and tarrant for a second round pick! was everitt any better then tarrant at his age! tarrant is a gun with skills and versatility, has been good for us this season and hasnt been at his best. once he gets his head right he will be awesome. this may not happen at collingwood (melbourne)tho!

Im willing to embarress myself (as BigFooty posters call it) and say, Collingwood MUST keep Tarrant because of potential, Id rather he MAYBE fufil his potential at Collingwood then anywhere else. I wouldnt care if he doesnt. It would hurt the supporters and the club LESS, if he did that, rather then he go off and play career-best footy somewhere else. Which is what would happen because of a change of environment. Im really over this Tarrant trade talk, either opposition supporters freakn' suggest a WORTH-WHILE offer or just shut up and forget it.

On White Line Fever Live Monday night, Caro was asked about her statement and she replied that she said" that Tarrant would be traded at the end of the year" and added that Ricky Nixon must hate Tarrant and changed what she said?? Something like that, but she was very mellow and coy about the subject and did not want to elaborate, unusual for some-one not so long ago was very passionate about hangin' the man. I also watched a repeat of Tony Shaw getting interviewed on Saturday's Football Central (I think it was that show) about the issue, he also appeared not so vocal by just saying that all he said "Chris should not have been out and should of not been allowed to play etc..... Which is true, however it was the manner he spoke about it, the amount of times he spoke about it, his aggressive tone and the continual onslaught aimed at Chris about his personal and playing life. The way he approached the issue helped promote the story to front page news...

I sometimes read the negative threads about Chris and I often wonder because I go to the football most weeks and the crowd just applaud him when he is near the ball. A few weeks ago when he was getting a hard time again, the crowd just cheered and clapped when he took his first mark. I also believe the majority of Collingwood supporters enjoy watching him because I witness this every week-end.

Anyone hear TD on SEN this morning? Likes Chris but said he doesn’t work hard enough in the track and packs up his bags and can’t wait to get away after a training session while others stay behind and work on things. It’s no surprise that he isn’t a real footy head but it has always annoyed the crap out of me that having kicked away a premiership in 2002 he has not improved his clearly inadequate goal kicking. Maybe this is why. I think at the very least it is time his pay reflected his work and impact rather than his potential because he is too old now for potential.
